9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently graduated from HHS as of 2025, and I wouldn't wish the experience I had on my worst enemies. The classrooms in the History hall upstairs smell of a gas leak, the halls take 2 to 3 times the amount of traffic they were designed to, and the staff, especially the counselors, don't seem to care one way or the other about their students. As for SPED, I didn't even get a paraprofessional after my 9th grade year, because, and I quote, i was "too mature." Mind you, I'm autistic and ADHD, so I most definitely needed a paraprofessional. As for other disability accommodations, such as for those in wheelchairs, there's only one elevator in each building, which would be fine if the buildings weren't massive and overcrowded. As for bullying situations, there's really no escape, especially if you're not "normal." Teachers don't seem to care about their students until a parent contacts them. Also, the main building hasn't been remodeled or expanded since the 1990s. Parking for students is basically nonexistent, and what little parking there is is given out on a first-come-first-served basis. As for the Student Government Association, they have basically no voice in terms of school control. Class-to-class travel times are a mere seven minutes, and that's not nearly enough for the amount of students attending the school.Other Review9mo ago15 Reviews - Houston Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've had a great experience for two years and fully expect the same this year. Love the teachers and parent involvement. This school bends over backwards to make the difficult middle school years just a little easier.Parent Review1y ago16 Reviews - Forest Hill Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have thrived at this school. The teachers and staff are excellent. The environment is super clean, welcoming and engaging. The PTO is very active and excellent at hosting events to encourage family participation. They have a beautiful learning garden, lots of artwork throughout the halls and a wonderful music program. This school is all about building community and helping students grow in academics as well as integrity.Parent Review1y ago1 Reviews - Check out schools near Forest Bend Ct.

"Atleast 20 mins wherever you’re headed but close enough to interstates so it’s not so bad. Just get used to it"

"It’s close to a major street but feels tucked away in the woods. We have the best of both worlds - a quiet suburban neighborhood with easy access to everything we need. "

"The commute from this neighborhood is tough. Germantown is ~30 minutes from everything Memphis has to offer. The drive is long and full of traffic. If the interstate is shut down, don’t even bother trying to get into Memphis. "

"Houston High School is a good public school. Good schools in the area are difficult to find, unless you are willing to pay tuition for private school and there are quite a few."

"Lived in the Memphis area since 1996. Lived here less than a month and already feel more comfortable and involved than I have in the past four zipcodes I've lived in. Neighbors are friendly, there are so many amenities within a mile from home. In my humble opinion, the best neighborhood I've lived in since I moved here from Portland, OR in 1996."
