6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGarden Road Elementary has been a wonderful experience for our family. It’s a smaller school, which really creates a close-knit, supportive environment where students are known by name and families feel connected. The teachers have been consistently caring, engaged, and dedicated to helping each child succeed both academically and personally. The learning environment is strong and well-balanced. Classrooms feel structured but nurturing, with clear expectations and plenty of encouragement. We’ve seen thoughtful instruction, good communication from teachers, and a genuine commitment to helping students grow and build confidence. The sense of community at Garden Road truly stands out. Events like Friday Flag assemblies and other school gatherings bring families together and create a positive, inclusive atmosphere. It’s clear that school spirit and character development are valued just as much as academics.Overall, Garden Road Elementary feels like a place where kids are supported, challenged, and encouraged to thrive. We’re very grateful to be part of such a welcoming school community.Parent Review2mo ago13 Reviews - Poway High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt is a high school that offers the most AP subjects among schools in the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) and also has the best athletic program. For example, wrestling is a place where formal Olympic training is held.Parent Review4y ago15 Reviews - Twin Peaks Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur oldest son went to school at Pomerado and Meadowbrook. I mention this because our experience at those schools were VERY different than our experience at Tierra Bonita and Twin Peaks with our two younger sons. The other reviews/comments regarding racism and bullying barely scratches the surface of what Tierra Bonita and Twin Peaks schools are like for minority and mixed-race kids. Our mixed-race sons are repeatedly called the N word (with the hard r) at both schools and to date, nothing has been done about it, except for meaningless "apologies" from the teachers/principals. The offending students are never suspended. Our boys have been physically hit, pushed, had objects thrown at them, etc., and nothing of substance is ever done to punish the offending students, even though some of these incidents occurred in the presence of teachers/staff!! How can you witness these things, have the nerve to call/email parents about it to "apologize", then do NOTHING about it?? We hear similar stories from other parents of minority kids. So we're removing our kids. I'm sure there will be lots of paperwork and nonsense to get our kids transferred to schools that are not our "assigned" schools, but Tierra Bonita and Twin Peaks are NOT safe schools for minority (especially Black) and mixed-race kids!!I have no complaints about the schools' academics, sports, or anything else...however, the rampant racism and bullying overshadows anything good about these schools.Parent Review1y ago25 Reviews - Check out schools near Clair Dr.

"To La Jolla. Depending on time can be horrible and up to 50 mins. 56 is always crowded. Not much else to say. "

"Our neighborhood has a very quiet, surburban feel. We know most of our neighbors since my family has lived here 10 years now. It used to be mostly older folks but younger families have been moving in in recent years. Totally inaccessible by public transport, but beautiful views of the mountains and close to Lake Poway. "

"The commute to downtown where I work tends to take around 30 minutes, keeping in mind that I don’t work a regular 9 to 5 schedule. It’s not bad. "

"Ok. Once you’re in Poway you’re in Poway it’s kinda a drive to go elsewhere. I work downtown and it’s a 45 min drive with traffic. People are pretty friendly here and kind. I feel relatively safe living here. Anyway getting to and from the freeway can be a bit slow that’s my only real gripe."

"Lots of well maintined parks, great library, lots of family events and fantastic schools. Most neighborhoods do not have an HOA or Mello Roos, but are maintained well. The Old Poway Park is a place that attracts kids and families from all over San Diego county, and has probably the finest Farmers markets."

"I've lived here since 2006. Peaceful area. Friendly neighbors, but they don't impose on anyone, so if you're an introvert, that's respected, too. Within walking distance to movie theaters, nice restaurants, ice cream and frozen yogurt shops, drug store and grocery stores. Hiking trails right outside the entrance to the community. Also within about 2 miles of the I-15 which has a carpool and toll road south to San Diego (10-15 min. drive) and north to surrounding destinations. Also has highest rated school district in the county!"

"I grew up here and I felt rather safe. A note for high school parents, though, there are small groups of students at Poway high that enjoy smoking pot secretly, among other things."

"I drive my own car. It’s about 45 min commute to get to work. Traffic is more heavier on the streets as well as the city drivers in poway are the worst . Always run red lights and not paying attaching and almost hitting other cars. "
