7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love Farmingdale public school systems. I went to Saltzman, Howitt, and the high school and I have to say that we are not just a community, we are a family. The schools brought us all together. From concerts to athletic games it was always a great time to be involved with the school somehow. “Once a Daler always a Daler”Other Review6y ago12 Reviews - Howitt School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHelloI am truly surprised on the low score for Howitt Middle School. My daughter started in Fall of 2023. We find almost all of the teachers to be amazing and engaging. They all put extra time into their work and time with their students. They have an amazing ICT program that goes above and beyond. We love the school Guidance counselor, who is open and friendly. For the first time my daughter understand ls math and is doing amazing due to the ICT class and she made honor roll. Which made her fell great. Is everything perfect no not everything is perfect but the faculty and administration is willing to listen and make changes all the time. They also engage with student during different activities including faculty vs students. Like a field day so cute! I am so impressed by the music department and all of the teachers, they are beyond exceptional. After school programs the school comes alive. There is a club for everyone and every interest. The library runs a knitting club with over 50 students male and female. The school musical is phenomenal beyond words. They have after school help for every major subject. There is no bullying and it’s because they were raised that way throughout school and it shows since they started school here it is considered unacceptable and it’s not put up with and it’s dealt with right away. Almost all the children have a group of friends they hang out with and even if they don’t, the kids are kind to them and appear inclusive. I would give Howitt a 10/10 and think it is better than any private expensive school. My daughter, with hard work and support of her teachers is doing so well academically, not even how she tests but what she knows. Her growth and knowledge is unbelievable.Every child is welcome and included. Howitt seems to hold the values I have raised my daughter with and value.I feel so luck to be part of this great community.Parent Review2y ago4 Reviews - Northside Elementary School

"Our Main Street area is fantastic. There are lots of restaurants, bars, breweries, cute little shops and concerts during the Spring & Summer. We really enjoy the holiday street fairs & the weekend farmer’s market set up in the town square park. There are quite a few supermarkets & smaller type grocery stores very close by. We’re lucky to a few gas station with the lowest prices on Long Island, a very nice plus. We have several town parks with running tracks, football fields & playgrounds that sponsor Summer concert events. "

"It's a nice neighborhood. Everyone looks out for each other. It's in a low crime rate area. Walgreen's is in walking distance as well as the post office and other stores. "

"It's a safe neighborhood. The people are very friendly. They all pitch in during Winter months with snow removal and getting the lawn sprinkles ready in the Spring."
0Flag - Henry O. a. W. S.

"The neighbors all pitch in and help each other. Whether it be pitching in with snow removal after a blizzard or a neighbor helping other neighbors turn on their sprinkler systems at the beginning of Spring or alerting each other when there are suspicious people wandering down the street in the middle of the night and keeping an eye out. There have been one or two incidents in the past pertaining to theft, but our unofficial "neighborhood watch", I believe, has brought the crime rate to practically zero. This is a great neighborhood for families."
