9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have an interesting perspective on JFK, as it became my first public school experience starting in 10th grade. This is surely not the best school on Long Island many teachers and staff members are uninspired (some I would even call unprofessional). There is a sense of apathy that seems to run through about half the adults who work there. However, there are a few special teachers who truly go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students every department boasts at least one standout who has a reputation for challenging the brightest and encouraging the weakest. I would say that about half my classes felt useless and the other half, I couldn t wait to attend. Extracurriculars are relatively varied and the administration is OK they relate well to students but are sometimes ineffective. The student body is very cliquey, but rarely cruel. Basically a middling experience; a determined student will be able to find ways to develop and grow, but those opportunities sure don t present themselves.Student Review12y ago - Plainview Old Bethpage Middle School

"Not allowed in neighborhood parks even though they are more well behaved then some kids. Some kids hang out At night and drink and break glass in park. I’ve seen one boy hitting a rabbit with his bat. "
