7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family’s experience with Coach Willets, the head wrestling coach at Fleming Island High School, has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. My freshman son was spoken to with disrespect, shown clear bias, and ultimately told he could “wrestle somewhere else” before even being given a fair chance to try out.The coach’s tone and behavior toward both my son and me were condescending and completely inappropriate for someone in a position of leadership working with students. I’ve since filed a formal complaint with the athletic director, school principal, and the Clay County Superintendent’s Office so that this situation can be handled at the county level. It’s important to note that Coach Willets is fortunate to even have a wrestling program to oversee after the conduct of the previous coach. You would think that history would inspire a higher standard of professionalism and mentorship — but sadly, that has not been the case.Parents and students deserve a coach who builds confidence and discipline, not one who discourages kids before they’ve even stepped on the mat. I sincerely hope the district takes a closer look at how this program is being run.Parent Review7mo ago23 Reviews - Thunderbolt Elementary School

"great schools! this is a family community. everything you need is right here. Nice Walmart. shopping is great. the only thing that is the downside is the traffic to get out here. rush hour can be pretty horrific. however it is worth the safe community and family atmosphere. "

"Clay county has many family events and community gatherings that makes it feel more like a small town than a large city. The parades at Christmas and the fireworks in July are events we attend every year. "

"There are people walking their dogs all of the time early morning, early evening, and in the dark. There’s always someone that you can visit with as you’re walking your dog, people are very gregarious in this neighborhood. The dogs have been trained behave and not be aggressive. I feel very secure in this neighborhood taking my dog for a walk without worry of an aggressive encounter. Dogs are leashed and picked up after. "

"I’ve lived in Fleming Island Plantation for 3 years now and it has been by far the most beautiful and well maintained area I have ever lived. The amenities (pools, splash parks, playgrounds) are places we use all the time. This is truly a place my children love. We’ve had amazing memories made here and we look forward to future memories being made."

"Beautiful area! Most people take pride in their homes. And for those who don’t ....... thank you HOA! People complain about all the deed restrictions but when it comes time to sell and property value have risen. No one no longer hates the HOA’s. "
