About this House

ONE-OF-A-KIND FURNISHED OJAI RETREAT WITH SAUNA, OUTDOOR CLAWFOOT TUB & RAINFALL SHOWER

Available fully furnished for stays of 30 days to 12 months, this one-of-a-kind 1930s Ojai retreat offers three dedicated sleeping bedrooms, an enormous fourth room configured for living and working, 2.5 indoor bathrooms, an outdoor clawfoot tub and rainfall shower, a full-spectrum infrared sauna, and an insulated two-car garage/flex space.

The home has been an evolving art project, created slowly and with tremendous love and care. Every color, artwork, textile, and piece of furniture was thoughtfully chosen not to stage a rental, but to create a home in which someone truly lived, worked, gathered with friends, and made a life. It is visually distinctive and full of character while remaining warm, inviting, and deeply comfortable.

The enormous fourth room has been transformed into a combined office, sitting room, second living room, creative studio, and entertaining space, with its own exterior entrance.

For years, this room was home to a private practice devoted to naturopathy and art therapy. It was intentionally created to feel grounding, open, and welcoming and retains that special quality. Its generous proportions allow it to serve several purposes at once, with abundant room to work, rest, create, entertain, or gather with friends.

Two bedrooms are located downstairs. The main bedroom has a king bed, original artwork, rich textiles, postmodern furnishings, and a rare vintage Ello mirrored bed frame that lights up. The second downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and its own sit/stand desk, providing a comfortable, private space for Zoom calls or focused work.

The entire upstairs serves as a retreat of its own, with a king bed, peekaboo mountain and sky views, a large desk and work area, and a meditation and reading nook with games. Stars are visible at night through the arched window. It is a quiet place to work, read, stretch, think, or simply step away from the activity downstairs.

Between the enormous office, the sit/stand desk in the queen bedroom, and the large upstairs desk, the house provides three genuinely separate workspaces. It is comfortable for a household with more than one person working remotely, offering enough room to live and work without being on top of one another.

The property is fully fenced for a dog, with both front and back yards.

The moody, London-inspired kitchen has everything needed for everyday cooking, and shared meals.

The mattresses were thoughtfully selected for comfort and restorative sleep. All bedding and linens are organic, OEKO-TEX certified, or both. There is ample clothing storage, including two large closets and an upstairs dresser, as well as a securely anchored safe for valuables.

Outside, the garden combines native plantings with roses, flowering plants, and fragrant sage that can be clipped for arrangements throughout the house. A secluded outdoor bathing area includes a rainfall shower and freestanding clawfoot soaking tub. You may never want to bathe indoors again. With very little surrounding light pollution, it is a magical place to soak beneath the stars.

The property also includes a full-spectrum, near-zero-EMF infrared sauna and an insulated two-car garage that doubles as an additional flex space. There is room for yoga, exercise, weights, a mini trampoline, games, arts and crafts, or other creative projects. Tenants may park inside the garage or in the driveway, and EV charging is available.

The setting feels peaceful and pastoral, yet this part of Meiners Oaks can easily be enjoyed without a car. Walk to the Ojai Meadows Preserve and the river bottom; pick up organic groceries, coffee, or prepared food at Farmer and the Cook; bring your computer to the newly refreshed Ranch House; or walk to Ojai Noodle House or Deer Lodge for lunch or dinner or music.

Meiners Oaks is one of the Ojai Valley's most eclectic and creative communities a friendly, close-knit neighborhood shaped by artists, craftspeople, gardeners, longtime residents, and independent local businesses. Responsive local property support is available nearby should anything arise during the tenancy.

Downtown Ojai is approximately seven minutes away by car, with easy access to restaurants, shops, spas, galleries, additional hiking, and the rest of the Ojai Valley.

Gas, electricity, water, trash, high-speed internet, weekly landscaping, and regular professional housekeeping are included. Housekeeping frequency and timing will be arranged with the tenant according to the length of stay and household schedule.

The listed rate of $11,000 per month applies to leases of six to twelve months. Rates for stays of 30 days to five months vary according to dates, season, and length of stay but remain all-inclusive.

This is a personal, art-filled home that will be best appreciated by tenants who value distinctive interiors and the care that went into creating them.

Dog-friendly with prior owner approval.
