1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is just my testimony for my special needs child! When we first visited the school; it was clean and it was completely enclosed which was perfect for our little! Everyone was very warm and welcoming! When it came for my child to start school it was great the first 2 weeks which I wasn’t aware that the main teacher wasn’t there. When the teacher made it to day one of week 3 I was told that my child was too loud; disrupts the class etc. Me knowing my kid instantly made me concerned because I want to be sure that I help them to know that when mommy and daddy aren’t here you must listen to your teacher! Apparently what was happening was my child was being ostracized whenever they would cause a disruption or have an outburst; which my kid does regularly; since they are nonverbal. Following that day I was asked to retrieve my child an hour after dropping them off and sometimes 30 minutes after dropping her off. Then came the roughest conversation; PLACEMENT! The teacher felt as though my child wasn’t ready for school and instead of adapting slightly to learn my child; I was told it’s not working out and she’s not ready for school! At the end of the meeting the teacher says word for word; “You know yo kids clothes don’t fit right.” The day after that meeting I stopped taking my child because it then dawned on me that; my child was being disruptive because they didn’t feel heard at all. They started standing on desks because they weren’t getting recognized and they felt that they had to do what was needed to be heard! Long story short after we decided not to return; the teacher never called even once to check on my child. We now have started a brand new year after summer vacay and my child is excelling in every class and is the teacher helper on a regular! We have found a teacher that loves our child and does wonders with getting and keeping my child involved and excited! After the first week of school my baby started getting sad on Fridays because they knew they weren’t going to get to go to school! They wake up every morning before I do sometimes to get the day started! They sit quietly during library and even help pass out supplies and even made 3 friends! THIS IS WHAT ITS ABOUT! I’m so sorry to say; I’m beyond grateful to have left Grass Valley Elementary School nor would send or request this school to anyone in our future! Listen to your special needs kings and queens in training and do it proudly!Parent Review1y ago19 Reviews - Montera Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would absolutely not recommend this school for any parent who cares about the safety of their child or their education. This place is disruptive and the teachers do not help at all. Restorative justice is the issue in America. We should go back to traditional education instructions.Teacher Review6mo ago39 Reviews - Skyline High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSkyline has provided my student with challenging classes and very supportive teachers and staff. From what I've seen and experienced, teachers take a strong interest in students and really want them to succeed. There are so many clubs, sports and student activities for students to choose from. The track and field and cross country programs in particular are heavily invested in and are some of the best high school athletic programs I've seen. There are innumerable resources and opportunities if your student is willing and able to go after them.Parent Review6mo ago23 Reviews - Home And Hospital Program

"Beautiful community and well-maintained by HOA. Neighbors are friendly. I’ve lived here for 4 years and feel very safe and peaceful living here. Have to be careful with car break-ins, like anywhere else in Oakland - it’s best to keep your car clean with nothing inside to attract theft."

"Very dog friendly community. Neighbors are frequently seen walking their dogs. With the hills, it’s great exercise for dogs & owners alike. "

"Even if you move here the rude neighbors and crime don't go away. :/ I feel unsafe leaving my condo because my friend's condo got robbed. "

"Rude Neighbors! Super up tight and complain about everything! It's high school all over again! Don't move here unless you want to judged by all your neighbors. "

"Nice, but has a couple of flaws. Some dog owners don’t have common courtesy/sense when it comes to other barking dogs or they just walk straight at you, while their dogs bark at others dogs passing by or my dog. Occasional gun shots which is frightening. Along with Neighbors playing their salsa or any music with a bass beat REALLY HIGH… those are the flaws living here but It’s a pretty area! Nice neighbors! Very safe! and Love the wildlife. "

"It’s safe if you stick to the sidewalks. There is an occasional loose dog, which is frustrating. It’s nice and flat, until you get to the hill."

"The hill is very steep to walk up and down. Only place to let their pets poop is their neighbors yard "

"I haven’t seen any events. I try not to go out. It’s a bad neighborhood. I’ve got three kids and I feel it’s unsafe for them to play out front."

"There are lots of places to walk your dogs. There are trails near by. People are always walking their dogs. We have trail heads close by in several areas in the neighborhoods. "

"Sequoyah is one of those special places where a broad range of people live together in harmony. Some of the benefits: Family friendly, hiking and wildlife, peaceful, close-knit community, beautiful scenery. My family and I have been proud residents since 2016."
