5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen I was at the school as a student. During lockdowns, they would turn off the classroom's lights and put everyone in the room at the side of the room. They do not allow hiding. It's like the intruders totally won't find you like this. It's dumb.Other Review8mo ago12 Reviews - North Layton Jr High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe problem with this school isn’t the teachers, it is the horrible administration. The principal has gotten rid of half of his staff because of his ignorance of what makes a good school. Good teachers are leaving in droves and your student will be left with a scared, unsupported and under appreciated staff. Good, qualified leadership makes a superior school. This school is sorely lacking in this area.Other Review11mo ago21 Reviews - Vae View School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall I believe that Vay view encourages a sense of community between piers and staff. My children enjoy going here and feel that they have friends, are safe, and supported from most of the staff. The teachers we have been with have been really good and supportive. The staff we have worked with are amazing teachers, I feel we have been extremely lucky with this because I have heard some of the worst from other parents particularly in the higher grades. The special Ed department at the school is lacking in my opion, doing the bare minimum to get by and isnt good at keeping you informed about childs progress or overall well-being. I believe maybe this department is just lacking in staff and support. I believe leadership could do much better at being involved and holding the special ed department accountable. I believe leadership could be better informed about working with special ed in general. Asking for extra meetings to go over or to review iep is like pulling teeth. The meetings are extremely unorganized and unprofessional, typically staff is unprepared and I have had countless things said in these meetings that seem unethical, unkind, and use of discomforting verbage. The overall support to include our Spanish speaking students in learning and activities is top teir. If you are looking for diversity, vae view has it and does an extemly good job being alot more inclusive than other schools I have attended. The issues you may face when going to leadership is denial and unwillingness to give you clarification on issues you may be having such as bullying, issues with teachers, issues with policies, and issue with following iep or 504 accommodations. I have been gaslighted, lied to and dismissed more times than I can count. They have a few split classes like 5th and sixth are combined. The school seems packed beyond its capacity. The building itself is run down, bathrooms are dingy, and you really feel like you are walking into the 70s. The school has an outdoor seating area in the center that i wish was utilized more, I wish they woud plant something in the planters and use this as a nice quiet study area, where kids and classrooms could come and go freely. The school councilor is really good checking on students who are struggling as often as needed. Overall the school could use stronger, more involved, and easier to work with leadership. Side note office staff and classroom aids are 10/10. Depending on your students needs this could be a good fit.Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near 1650 N Main St N #123.

"Neighbors and families are extremely supportive and kind to one another. This city and neighbor are amazing, and our family is so grateful to live here. Layton is very safe and it has a lot of good shops, restaurants, business, and churches. "

"There are a lot of fenced yards, both front and back. Many of the homes are dog friendly with nearby dog parks. However, there are also a lot of owners that let their dogs run leash free on their walks that do not have good recall. There are also a lot of dogs that jump fences when they’re larger breeds and the fences are not high enough for them and can cause territorial issues. My smaller dog has been attacked several times in her own yard. "

"They wouldn’t like the busy road or no parks, I prefer dog parks for my dogs and sadly there’s nothing like that here. "

"I would guess about 1/2 of the people here have dogs. They’re all very friendly. We have an HOA that requires they be on a leash and owners must clean up all dog poop. Everyone seems to follow the rules very well. I don’t personally have a dog but I don’t mind any of the dogs being outside. I can never hear dogs barking from inside my house, I can only hear a dog if I’m outside at the same time as the dog or have windows opened. "
