If your child is a good student and gets good grades with no behavior issues this school is great. If your child is a typical teen with less than stellar grades and/or not perfect behavior than this school is terrible. There is a severe lack of communication between the administration and the parents. The only time you will hear from them is if your child offended them somehow. Even if you reach out to them repeatedly through calls or emails. Do not expect a response. If your child offends them somehow then you will get a call but not from anyone you need to speak with... even if you ask for them. Just pray There aren't any school shootings and that your child is 100% responsible and you'll be fine.

Como madre, me siento profundamente decepcionada por la experiencia que vivimos en esta escuela intermedia. Desde el inicio, noté un ambiente lleno de conflictos entre los estudiantes, con constantes peleas y una falta de intervención adecuada por parte del personal.Lo más grave, sin embargo, fue presenciar actitudes racistas y discriminatorias hacia personas latinas. Este tipo de comportamiento, además de inaceptable, fue ignorado o minimizado por quienes deberían actuar con profesionalismo y compromiso con la comunidad estudiantil. Gracias a Dios, tomé la decisión de retirar a mi hija de esta escuela. Si eres latino o perteneces a una minoría, te recomiendo que lo pienses muy bien antes de considerar esta institución para tu hijo. Todos los niños merecen aprender en un ambiente seguro, respetuoso e inclusivo, y lamentablemente, esta escuela no cumplió con esas condiciones.

My daughter attended for one year. It’s okay; safe and adequate. There were some things I did not like. There were several instances that a substitute teacher told a kid to “shut up”. I reached out to Principal Windish by email 3 times and never was responded to by him. After the 3rd email, someone I cc’d had replied and said the teacher apologized to the students, but my daughter said that didn’t happen. It didn’t appear to be a big deal to them. Pros, the front desk staff is so kind. The teacher my daughter had was kind. No school projects or events or family participation for the whole year though. There was one field trip but we were told about it the morning of, no info sent home ahead of time, so she didn’t go. Overall it was adequate, no big issues. The staff that handle carline do an incredible job! It was very efficient and quick.

Excelente escuela. De verdad no tengo nada malo que decir. Tengo a mis dos hijos en ella. Mucha comunicación, limpieza; los maestros que les han tocado con muy cariñosos y atentos con los niños. Mucha dedicación y profesionalismo. La encargada del restaurante es una persona adorable. Maestras de Esol y terapistas son personas muy profesionales y adorables. A mis dos hijos le encanta! Recomiendo siempre esta escuela. A+++

This is my son’s third year at this school. He is a second grader student now. He has ADHD and the teacher he had at kindergarten (Ms.Seo) is a phenomenon and amazing teacher and person as well. As soon as we found out about his ADHD after the first month of kindergarten, The school started to support us by: helping find the newest researchers and resources, making great relationship with us, supporting emotionally and more. My son is on medication and now, he has diagnosed as a gifted student with the IQ score of 130 by the county from last year. This child is the person who was receiving behavioral alerts on first few weeks of the school year at kindergarten and had no friends at school because he wasn’t able to make one. Now he has a lot of friends and is enjoying school a lot. If he becomes sick and have a fever and can’t go to school he cries for hours because he wants to go to school. His first grade teacher and his current teacher are great professional teachers as well. Thanks Mr.Carver (the principal) and every single person working at Crystal Lake Elementary School that I believe they all are the best.
