7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn the last 8 years I have had 3 children attend this school. Each child with different interests, skills and social standings. I say that so you understand that I have experienced the different facets and options available at GMS. It was an eye-opening experience to go from an amazing journey and School like Cannon Elementary to then have them matriculate into GMS, a tragic occurrence. This school and its rhetoric is for show, hollow words that check a box but hold no real meaning. Leadership holds compliance over true learning/education, only caring about the score. In the last 8 years this school has truly fallen into a state of despair. I have seen videos my students took of Teachers screaming at their students and throwing things in class. I have witnessed the negative effects of their staff's tactics warp and confuse the minds of impressionable students. Favoritism is real, and many students and parents are aware. I have been on both sides of the favoritism scale, and it is eye opening the gap created and maintained by staff to protect their "chosen". I have spoken with several other parents who feel the same way, but when expressing concerns to their various assistant principals, it is met with run arounds, gas lighting and more hollow rhetoric. In the end they give up and tell their students to hold on till Highschool. Middle school is hard enough without the people paid to care for you treating you like a burden or afterthought. One of my students went form the top of his class, heavily awarded and look upon to feeling so hopeless and worthless that he gave up all because of his interactions with teachers and counselors. Another of my students shut herself away, closed off and removed herself because when reporting bullying or unwanted harassment, she was vilified or led to believe she may have been the one giving mixed messages or encouraging the offenders. One of my students was attacked in the gym surrounded by other students and supposedly monitored by teachers. No one came to his aid; his wounds were not even addressed till I arrived and requested it. Several eyewitnesses came forward to confirm it was an unprovoked attack but were told "it takes two to tango". Self-defense should not be punishable. I will not have my two youngest attend this school. I will be looking for any alternative as I value them and their current love of learning to let GMS steal it from them. I hope GMS can grow and fix these issues; our students deserve more.Parent Review9mo ago10 Reviews - Silver Lake Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe leadership at this school has been disappointing. The principal frequently brings personal relationship issues into the workplace, which creates an uncomfortable and distracting environment for staff and undermines professionalism. There also appears to be clear favoritism toward one counselor, while other staff members are left out of communication and collaboration. Doors are often closed, and meaningful interaction with teachers and support staff is limited, making it difficult to address concerns or work as a cohesive team.Effective school leadership should be impartial, approachable, and focused on students and staff—not internal conflicts or selective relationships. Unfortunately, this administration falls short in those areas, and it has negatively affected morale and trust within the school.Teacher Review5mo ago15 Reviews - Colleyville Heritage High School

What Locals Say about South Shore Acres
- Donna_burton

"This location puts you close to everything... a few miles from the lake, historic downtown, great parks with one of the absolute best youth baseball parks around, plus well planned youth sports such as soccer, softball and more. In addition, the property tax in Grapevine keeps going down due to outstanding local leaders attracting business to the area which brings in revenue from family friendly things such as the Gaylord, Grapevine Mills, Great Wolf Lodge and Legoland. Grapevine provides for its citizens excellent services such as a fully-equipped community center which provide multi-age activities, outstanding library, senior citizens center offering transportation services and a galore of activities along with several municipal pools and many parks throughout the city. Very convenent to DFW airport, downtown FW, Baylor Hospital and all types of shopping. Grapevine is one of the most desired locations in the metroplex, and when the road construction is finished, the location, location, location factor will increase even more so."
