2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLack of staffing. My daughter attended this school in:2nd grade (2023-24). Her teacher retired 2 months into the year, only to have various substitutes until the last 3 months of school where they finally placed a teacher who ended up retiring once the school year was complete.3rd grade (2024-) The initial teacher stopped showing up 2 months in and these children have been left without an adequate, CONSISTENT teacher for almost 3 months and counting.Unfortunately this is the ONLY elementary school in my “zoning area”. This school is full of shenanigans, doing a great disservice to its children. There is no PTA to voice my concerns, just a dismissive staff. Also, if whomever is reading this goes to this school, please be sure to check the employees ID badge. All though name badges are mandatory in EVERY school district, they seem to be either optional or hidden here. If unfamiliar, you’d NEVER be able to tell the difference between staff, parents, etc.Parent Review1y ago3 Reviews - Columbia Middle School

"Dog owners would not like the lack of side walks to create a truly walkable and safe for pedestrians community. "

"Decent neighborhood kid friendly and the commute to downtown is less than 20 minutes . I have lived here for the past three years with my family of five. The schools nearby are great! "

"There are many families in this area, but it’s not a decent area. Most people who live here have been in the area for years and others live here because it’s less expensive. The area is slowly up and coming. Also the school systems have low ratings. "

"Traffic ridden but could be worse. I love living in this house but crime has gotten very very bad. I believe it’ll be in its prime in a few years."

"We like it here. It's like the nearer in neighborhoods used to be. Cool, down to earth, quirky. You can own a cute little house with a yard for less than it costs to rent in Midtown. Nice feeling of community."

"The neighborhood is close to downtown Atlanta and close to downtown Decatur and there are plenty of parks, restaurants and things to do in the area. Lots of nice people live here and the neighborhood is growing rapidly."

"I have lived here for 6 years. The area has really improved since I first moved in and I see no sign of the improvements stopping. Police have a visible presence in the area. There is a park very near the house, where kids are often playing til the sun goes down. The neighbors are quite and respectful of each others space. The Marta stop is at the end of the street, which you can see from the house. There are many new business coming to the area. Location can't be beat, you are close to 285 and 20, you can get to downtown Decatur in 10 mins and downtown Atlanta in 20. You are close to everything! "

"I moved into my house in 2013 I had many reservations about the area but have come to find out that everything I had previously thought was exaggerated or false. I am 10 minutes from Virginia Highlands and 7 to downtown Decatur. All my neighbors have been very helpful in getting to know the area. Everyone walks there dogs and children are always playing.. This is an up and coming diversified area and I feel that I made a great choice for me and my family."
