3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLet me spin you a yarn about Amundsen High in Chicago, where my daughter’s spent the last three years sharpening her wits and her pencils under the watchful eyes of folks who actually know her name. They’ve got an International Baccalaureate program so fine-tuned it could teach a cat to juggle, yet the teachers here treat it more like a friendly chess match than an unsolvable riddle. They’ll guide her through every labyrinth of IB essays with the patience of a Midwestern Sunday preacher, then send her off with essay tips and scholarship pointers that’ll make her application shine brighter than a brand-new penny.Beyond the classrooms, those bustling, bustling halls, she’s found herself on the soccer pitch dueling in the CPL Premier Division, belting out tunes in a musical, and tinkering away in clubs. All the while, there’s a community wrapped around her back like a warm blanket: counselors who steer with gentle wisdom, parents trading stories and support at every game, and classmates turned comrades in every grand adventure. In short, Amundsen has given her a sturdy launchpad of challenge, camaraderie, and cheer, so when she sails into her senior year, I'll be confident she can steer her way forwardParent Review1y ago16 Reviews - Chappell Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagechappell elementary is a wonderful neighborhood school that we feel incredibly lucky to have in ravenswood. as a world language magnet cluster school, every student studies spanish, which adds so much depth to their education. native speakers have a heritage language program to build on their existing skills, while non native speakers in grades six through eight complete the equivalent of a first year high school spanish course.the arts programming here is truly impressive. students have opportunities in music, visual arts, and even participate in musicals. they also get to explore multiple instruments, which is not something every school offers.what really sets chappell apart are the hands on environmental education programs. students learn through gardening and even beekeeping, which are supported by the amazing friends of chappell group. these experiences help students connect with nature in meaningful ways.not sure if most people know this but academically, the school ranks quite high and has particular strength in science. chappell was recognized with thrive awards in both 2021 and 2024 for its positive impact on student learning, which says a lot about the dedication of the teachers and staff.there is also a wide variety of extracurricular options like sports, chess, garden club, and computer club, all of which contribute to a well rounded experience for our daughter.for families who need it, the school offers very early before care and an after care program as well. this kind of support makes a big difference for working parents.if you are curious about getting involved, the friends of chappell is a very active and welcoming parent community that plays an important role in the school’s success.Parent Review11mo ago17 Reviews - Check out schools near 1734 W Foster Ave.

"Andersonville: Lived here since 2016. Friendly, liberal, diversified, wonderful restaurants, low crime, nearby grocery, drug stores, and small businesses. Public transportation at your fingertips. Walking distance to Lake Michigan beaches, bicycle, and running trails. Village-like atmosphere, but close to downtown Chicago and its many sights, museums, art galleries, and theater. Great place to live! "

"The Sommerfest, the weekly farmer’s market, sidewalk sales, Viking pub crawl and many more events make this neighborhood fun. It is also a fairly quiet neighborhood; if you want lots of nightlife, live farther south. We are older, and really love the inclusive, friendly vibe here."

"I commute to the Rosemont area by car. It averages 40 minutes. By bus and blueline, it is about an hour and 15. To get downtown from here is easy by Metra, red line, or Clark 22 bus."

"I've lived in this area for over 20 years and couldn't see myself living anywhere else. People are especially friendly, everyone says hello and if you have children or dogs they tend to be more talkative. We have an abundance of restaurants, grocery stores as well as public transportation all within walking distance. "

"Block parties and very friendly neighbors! Mix of families and renters, with a variety of people. More importantly, there’s a variety of bars, restaurants, and shopping right out your doorstep! Super safe area. I’ve lived in lake view, wicker park, and evanston and I’ve enjoyed Andersonville the most! "
