9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe pros are that they have a lot of electives and learning pathways and great opportunities for the students. The biggest con is the principal, Julie Redfield. She allows her teachers to get away with discriminatory behaviors towards students even when their are documented witnesses and the teachers own written account. Parents are not considered partners, rather she is dismissive of any concerns raised. Students with differing beliefs, medical issues, and anxiety are not accommodated.l as she does not prioritize the needs of the individual student. When educators stop caring about kids, its time to retire. Carlsbad High could be great under the right leader and with getting rid of teachers that set the example with discrimination in the classroom.Parent Review3w ago23 Reviews - Aviara Oaks Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think that this school is pretty good overall if you live in the area. Although classes and teachers can be difficult sometimes, it’s easy if you are ok top of your grades and doing well. PE can be unfair at times to certain students, not giving you a pass if you can’t run or if you don’t have a doctors note. (So if you have a broken leg w/out a doctor’s note, you still gotta run) The people there can be nice if you find ones with similar interests as you. Some of the teachers can be really nice, but also really mean, depending on your personality or attitude in the class. Advanced classes are difficult as well, so make sure to ask for help. The counselors will do anything in their power to help, however, they might not always say or give you the advice you want to hear. In general, no, this isn’t the best middle school out there. But, it’s pretty good, even though it can be unfair sometimes.Student Review4mo ago27 Reviews - Aviara Oaks Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’m not sure why we are still talking about these issues in 2023 but this schools is not only overrated but mistreated my kids were in fact bi racial with Latino and African American but absolutely not ok and wanted everyone to know what really goes on in this school.. first of all my daughter has GI issues with constant to the restroom and nurses office for her stomach issues, but my daughter came home one day, last year and said her teacher would not send my daughter to the nurse anymore because the “nurse was busy with other kids not for her .. no time for her, which tells you something.. I know also in previous years my oldest son was also mis- accused for an expulsion, while another child who was guilty got a slap on the wrist and let go because his dad was a cop… but I am a mother and will not stand or sit in silence especially after my kids are continually mistreated by these schools.. j letting u know..Parent Review2y ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near 6685-6685 Sweetclover Ln.

"Love Carlsbad, and this neighborhood is friendly, fun, and safe. So many incredible restaurants, shops nearby. The beach is within walking distance, and attractions like Flower Fields, and Legoland in city limits. What's not to love. "

"Slow and very crowded. There is little to no public transportation so driving is the only option. More lanes are being added to I-5 in both directions, but it will not be much if any help. "

"Long and boring to Coronado island. Traffic on the 5 can be horrible at times. Construction on the 5 might make it better but I’m sure they’re working quickly. "

"In the Seagate community there are plenty of doggy stations which makes the area great for walks! Even if the hills are kind of excessive, the nice weather makes up for it. Great community, safe to walk in."

"I commute downtown San Diego so the commute from here to there has very heavy traffic during standard rush hours. The Coaster/Amtrak is less than a mile away so that offers a great commuting option."

"1 minute from freeway onramp. Easy access to the 5. Shopping center is 1/4 mile away and the beach is 5 minutes away. Most everyone in n the area take really good care of their places and when I get home from work in the evening I love to take a swim and jacuzzi in the pool. "

"The parking regulations suck in the HOA, and good luck fighting them on it. But there are stores and the train within walking distance. Everyone is very nice. Area is very dog friendly. There is basically a Yappy Hour every night at 6 at the park across the street."

"The HOA at Alta Mira I does not like kids. They threaten to fine you if they ride bikes, skate boards, climb on trees, have fun, etc. They also hate dogs. They constantly threaten to fine everyone for the simplest of things, including letting them pee on a neighbors front yard...yes, front yard. There are a lot of nice people here, but the HOA is run by a bunch of grumpy old people that complain and want to fine everyone. Also, there is no parking. On trash day, the trash cans take up the entire street parking. Everyone begins to fight each other for street space, not only in the cul de sacs, but the entire community. This place was not set up for families to live at all. With all that said, its typically quiet and pretty safe. Just know that to use any of the common areas, while publicly encouraged, is secretly not popular as these people seem to want to put fines out there for everything. Don't take my word for it...Just ask for a copy of the most recent HOA news letter and you will see exactly what I am talking about."
