7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA few safety issues. For a long period of time the front door was unlocked at all times, the lock did not work. My main concern is that it is well known that random people not attending the school can come in and walk around for hours without being noticed by staff. I attended for four years and the same sinks that were broken freshman year still did not work senior year. Some staff are great, while others are punitive. Parking spots are also few and far between. There’s also no measurements taken against bullying. I’ve seen students throw drinks at other students in the midst of class and the teachers would not say anything. Pickup at the end of the day is also a nightmare, as parents park in the middle of the road or on the grass to pick up their children, it is an unsafe environment for novice drivers to navigate.Student Review1y ago18 Reviews - Martin Middle School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI used to work here from 2017-2020 and when I heard the news that this school is closing, I was so happy! The students with the exception of like 20%, are the absolute worst people I’ve ever had to teach. They’re rude, violent, very very low IQ, and their parents are no different. The school is an entire safety concern and admin will do absolutely nothing to help you or your child if they are bullied, beaten up and in fact, will probably cover it up and blame you. The academics are incredibly low, the students refuse to learn and would rather fight, argue, scream and resist any type of education. When Covid hit, I was so glad to have gotten away from these students and I was even more thankful that the good students were set free from them as well. I am glad this school is closing, it’s underperforming for years and I hope the school is demolished and the land is put to better use.Thank you Austin ISD for making the correct decision!Other Review3mo ago7 Reviews - Sanchez Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school doesn't help the kids that need xtra help. Instead of helping my kid with her Reading they just let her fail. She received nothing but 3 and 4's all year long except Reading. They helped the Spanish speaking students, but not mine... they informed me all late in the year that my kid will be held back. I kept asking if there was any help at school? and they would say no. At the end of the year they inform me that they needed my permission to have her pulled out of the classroom to get her the help she needed, really with less than 6wks. ? and they still didn't really offer me to sign anything? ?... The bilingual program they offered just confused my kid and I my friends kid to this day... Her new teacher at her present has told me BY LAW with her low scores in Reading she should've got help not not retained another full year !! Especially since they knew about her low scores early in the year.. she feels my kid was cheated and I totally agree... She should've got her some help....Parent Review6y ago4 Reviews - Check out schools near 1620 E Riverside Dr #57.

"Dangerous environment dogs off leash. Crime and it’s very dirty. If you live in an apartment complex that has a dog park you will be okay. "

"I don’t see dog wonders walking their dogs. Some stray animals. I would recommend going a bit higher in price and renting near river. Better view and dog friendly. "

"It’s constantly growing. There’s a little mix of old Austin with new Austin people and vibe. Good places to eat, and few places for concerts. "

"I don’t have a dog so I can’t comment. I see people walking their dogs often though. If I had a dog, I would enjoy walk8ng here."

"There are a lot of trails and dog parks. People all have dogs and clean up after them . Lady bird lake is close by and people love to take the dogs swimming from the open spots and go canoeing with their dogs. Also a lot of swimming spots in Austin. I think it’s like having a child in Austin. A dog socializes people and brings them together. People are very friendly "

"Closer to Town Lake. Rasy access to public transportation. A LOT of homeless people camped out right on sidewalks and public spaces. Police can't even make them move. Needles and paraphernalia litter public spaces. This is a problem all of Austin is dealing and getting worse since July 1st, 2019. Not safe. "

"Dog owners would not be able to find an apartment complex that doesn't have a flea problem. I treat my dogs regularly yet they still have had a massive issue with catching fleas. I can't even walk around my apartment complex without getting flea bites all over my legs. "

"Lots of dogs around here especially by the river. There a few a handful of nearby parks. There are even some unfenced areas where the community has welcomed off leash dogs. When I lived here it was more friendly than not, which is awesome, but definitely can change. "

"Close to many things and people are relatively friendly. I have lived here for 2 years. You can meet many people just by walking to the park. "

"This area is in the gentrification process so you see some riff raff from drugs and crime and also some vary nice homes next to boarded up houses. people keep to themselves, probably not the best place to raise a family right now. "

"It’s super close to the boardwalk and Ladybird lake and I feel close to nature but also am only a 5 minute drive to DT, east side, etc. everything I need is close. "

"Close to downtown but more affordable. One of the more ethnically and financially diverse areas this close to downtown. Lots and lots of homeless and break-ins and physically threatening crimes. I don't recommend living here for single females like myself. "
