Enjoy spectacular views and sunsets from this 2 bedroom, 2 bath first floor apartment located on 200 acres of forest abutting the Harvey Mountain State Forest and near historic Old Austerlitz. You can walk, ski, snowshoe, bike or snowmobile to the summit of Harvey Mountain via our extensive trails from the house. Harvey Mountain is the highest peak in Columbia County. where you can pick wild blueberries and watch spectacular sunsets over the Catskill Mountains. In a nutshell, the property which we call Landlight is Heaven on Earth for nature lovers and for dogs!
We take pride in providing comfortable, well-maintained homes for our tenants to live in. We actually live upstairs so our response time will be immediate if and when anything comes up. We have a great track record and tenants usually stay a long time. For that reason, we want to be sure that whomever is going to rent the apartment is a good fit for the place.
Landlight has been in the family for generations. It is located at the end of a 1 mile long dirt road which can be tricky during the winter and during mud season March-April so an all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must. Do not apply if you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
The power goes out occasionally, but we have a Generac that goes on automatically.
The apartment is toasty warm in the winter and cool in the summer because it is partially underground. It is heated with oil and it has a wood stove for ambiance and additional heat. No AC needed! There are a lot of windows and 2 sliding doors off the south side so it is nice and light and breezy in the summer.
The house is wired with the most current highspeed internet service provided by Consolidated Communications. Cellular service is also good.
The heat is included as is wifi, electricity, water, plowing, mowing and garbage removal of normal daily trash.
There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a large eat-in kitchen, a large living room, a laundry room with washer and dryer, an electric stove, fridge and dishwasher and several closets for storage.
Additional amenities include one garage bay, a stone fire pit, a deck with garden beds for growing, extensive perennial gardens, hiking trails, a wonderful swimming pond, a great sleigh riding hill and there is a barn that could be rented for chickens, horses, toys or equipment for an additional fee.
There is an airbnb in another house on the property and a cabin that can be rented when guests come to visit.
If views of trees and mountains, and the sounds of birds and a running stream are your thing this is the perfect home for you.
The rent is $2500 a month, everything included. Up to 2 pets are allowed.
If you are interested, I will send you a renters application to fill out. Once your references are checked and we have met you and your family and pets, we will send you a one-year lease to review and sign.
We will want the first month's rent and the security deposit upfront.
Up to 2 well-behaved pets are allowed with an additional pet damage deposit of $500 per pet. No smoking allowed in the house. Tenant can park one car in the garage and can park a second car in the driveway. We would like a one year lease with the option to renew after a year if all goes well.
