My kids previously attended Murphy Ranch, but we transferred to Macy after moving. We loved MR and were a little hesitant about Macy based on reviews, but it has turned out to be a great school.The curriculum is engaging, and my kids often bring home projects that seem above grade level in the best way. They really benefit from that kind of challenge. The school also provides fun activities for the students, and I appreciate the smaller campus feel.There’s a lot of criticism directed at Ms. Jacobsen, but in my experience, she’s wonderful. She attends every event, actively connects with parents, and knows many students and families by name. She is warm, approachable, and far more involved than the three principals we had at Murphy Ranch.Some reviews mention bullying. I can’t speak broadly on that, but I can share that when a student was mean to my daughter, her teacher immediately stepped in and addressed it, showing that it wasn’t tolerated.I also love that Macy goes through 6th grade. It gives the kids an extra year before moving on to middle school.Areas for improvement:•Communication could be more consistent. Sometimes updates are sent through email, other times Instagram, and occasionally through the teachers. Dates/times were incorrect a few times, and announcements like Student of the Month are sometimes given with very short notice. This is the main reason I deducted a star.•I wish there was a 6th-grade promotion ceremony. Instead, Macy does a “walkout” or “clapout,” where the 6th graders walk the campus while students and staff applaud. It is nice, but feels like a missed opportunity for something more meaningful.
