  • G. Jesiolowski
"Buses are not reliable unfortunately. Our family relies on a car. Within five minute drive we can access lots of parks. Walking distance to lovely library and health food store."
  • Dezzyd98
"I love it here I’ve been here awhile now and never had no issues friendly people good vibes and entertainment"
  • Trulia User
"Porch Rocket, trick or treating, community garden, karaoke nights, best coffee places in town and more "
  • Trulia User
"Porchrockr is amazing. Happens once a year in August. Highland square is a great area but West Akron is broad area and many of these questions do not apply to the whole area. Highland Square USA unique area and the bars have many events. "
  • Y B
"As transplants from the East Coast, we were trying to decide between Lakewood, Cleveland Heights, and Highland Square. We're so happy we landed here in Highland Square because it's got everything we want without the stuff we don't want. Food, walkability, safety, schools, neighborhood events, etc. So we bought a house --- we're staying! The vibe is everything."
  • Trulia User
"not picking up after there animals letting them tear people's trash barking all dog owners love people who clean after there pets and keep them under control especially if there's children around"
  • Trulia User
"There are a lot of nice parks in the area and very well maintained. Highland Square Library is great and has a lot to offer as free activities. And the history of the old theater is a great place to watch a family movie with inexpensive concessions! "
  • Tom P.
"walking distance to bars, great metro parks and dog parks, Mustard Seed Market, porchroker, Pride, Akron Marathon, public library."
  • Tom P.
"There are a lot of bars on the main strip, but it is safe and not too crazy. The library is great and with a Walgreens on the corner and a Mustard Seed Market you can feel taken care of. Plenty of nice parks as well. "
  • Renee B.
"Most people are respectful and keep their dogs leashes and clean up after them. Sidewalks make it safer, but some are old and uneven"
  • Meganlouiseshane
"I’ve lived in the square for the last 8 years, I love my neighborhood and my neighbors. It’s a very unique place."
  • Wiltrout W.
"Angel falls coffee shop is delightful and homey feeling and the local one screen theatre is charming and serves alcohol. "
  • Paula K.
"Festivals like PorchRokr and Taste of Akron, Farmer’s Market, Akron Marathon route, Akron Pride Fest"
  • Avril C. F.
"This neighbourhood is great! Well kept houses, safe environment and parks with activities with five minutes walking distance. Home to porch rockr and other festivals. Quiet for being close to downtown, but still close enough you can hear Lock 3 concerts and the St V band play. "
  • melytra.bee
"Highland Square is more distant from the highway than other neighborhoods/areas but that means it feels much homier. Most of the houses around me are older/historic, very quaint, with gardens and people walking dogs all the time. "
  • Jake M.
"porchrckr every year, and farmers markets weekly in summer and fall. local historic movie theater within walking distance. "
  • Randidwen
"Highland Square is a very diversified area. I would describe it as it’s own town on the sidelines of a city. "
  • John M. W.
"Many people walk the streets for exercise. It seems to be oriented pretty well for families. It appears to be patrolled very well by police. We have a fire station close by as well."
  • Trulia User
"That this is a very dog friendly neighborhood. I see people walking their dogs on a daily basis. And the neighborhood park has doggy bags available for Potty pick up."
  • Alyssa F.
"Not a good area at all. Highland square is decent. But, lock your doors and get insurance on everything you own. Akron in general is so bad anymore... "
  • Johnyklassb
"it is a very dog friendly neighborhood, even if you have a pit breed. i can't walk 1 block without someone saying hi to me and my 110lbs pit/mastiff mix. "
  • Msteensen
"Lots of school zones on the way to route 8. Lots of crossing guards in these school zones that never make children learn to be patient. Nicer area of Akron."
  • John W.
" I’ve lived hereApproximately 16 years. We just had porch Rocker this past weekend and that is one of several social events that take place in this neighborhood and it brings lots of people here. I enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood. I would recommend it to others"
  • rachel m.
"Highland square is a nice area for the most part but keep your doors locked and get renters insurance. "
  • Caitlin K.
"Christie park has a farmers market every Thursday in the summer, frequent street parties up the road, porch rokr live music festival in the summer, square fest vendor and performance event in the summer, and more. There’s always something going on "
  • Shamikaj1991
"My neighborhood is very unique because of the people in it and I have grown up here and watch other kids grow here as well and the schools in the area as well "
