The teachers, administration, and staff are all very friendly and I have been overwhelmed so far with the amount of communication I've received from their classroom teachers, which is WAAAYYYY more than the school in our prior state. I love that my kids get to receive instruction in several different "specials," including art, music, PE, and guidance every day of the week. The problem is two-fold: students are not receiving the proper education they need to succeed, and the school system is becoming increasingly skewed in favor of teachers, at the expense of students and their education. This situation has become so dire that even when parents attempt to seek help, they are met with indifference and a lack of support from the School and from School District.The lack of support from the Leon County School District only compounds these problems. When parents attempt to reach a reasonable agreement with the school, they are often ignored or given the runaround. Even when they go to the district for help, they are met with a lack of responsiveness, with phone calls going unanswered and emails going unreturned.In conclusion, the crisis in education at Lawton High School is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention. "The neighborhood is too small for anything more than a potty walk for a dog. To exercise your dog you must drive somewhere else. The main road is too busy and has no sidewalk so leaving the neighborhood on foot for exercise is not possible. "
