I never expected to have this experience with Chatom Elementary. As the parent of a child with documented medical needs, I believed the school would work with us to ensure he received both the education and support he deserved. Instead, my son was dismissed because of absences related to his medical condition & being inter district. Throughout this process, I felt like our family’s circumstances were not taken seriously. We also requested support through an IEP or 504 evaluation, but those requests were denied only a 504. Rather than collaborating with us to find solutions, we were left feeling unsupported and forced to search for a new school just weeks before the school year begins.Children with medical conditions deserve understanding, reasonable accommodations, and an educational environment that values their well-being. I hope the administration reflects on how situations like ours are handled so that other families do not have to experience the same heartbreak and stress.This was an incredibly painful experience for our family, and I sincerely hope no other parent has to go through it. Favoritism at the most with these staff members. Receptionists rude and very disrespectful towards the children and family members. Safe your time and do not enroll here unless you fit in with the faculty or principal.
