N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended preschool here and we had a great experience with this school. The teachers are great and the principal is fun, friendly and very professional. It is a small school giving kids more 1/1 attention. I wish it would offer through 5th grade, but it only offers through 2nd. The neighborhood is quiet. Some homeless can be spotted here and there, but Mr. Panes always makes sure the school area is safe for the students.Parent Review1y ago - Manual Arts Senior High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Manual for 2 years, and that was enough. The school is not terrible, but there is an attitude among the teachers that since this is a ghetto school they should be able to do whatever they want. There is no leadership from the administration and teachers run their classes however they see fit. Mr. Channel, who is mentioned elsewhere here, has a rule that if a student is absent even one day, with or without an excuse, they fail the course. My son was sick one day (with a doctors note!) and failed the class, even though he had all A's. Channel also designates certain pretty girls to be his "helper teachers", and these students get special privileges. Other teachers do much the same, favoring some students, enforcing bizarre rules, etc. We went as far as the school board to protest this, but the attitude seems to be "well , those teachers work in a tough school so we let them alone". At least we didn't have to worry about "teaching to the test". Nobody in this school seems worried about how their students do, long term or short term. I come from a family of educators and I have never experienced a school like this.Parent Review10y ago - Barack Obama Global Preparation Academy

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo not send your kid to this school they abuse their power against the students. Their staff is very rude and yells at students for no reason. They lie about rules just to take thing form students. The teachers don’t know what they’re teaching.Student Review1y ago - Marguerite Poindexter Lamotte Elementary

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI worked at the school. The only reason I would ever tell somebody to send their child here is because I hated them. When it comes to the school the main problem is the principle who is a toxic human being who actively belittles and fights his staff whenever they disagree with him. He has made more than five extremely well qualified teachers leave within the last 2 years alone and he has barely been a principal for 3. I would like to make it clear that people like him are common in LAUSD and this is why most public schools within the district are awful. Also the way that he deals with anything is by line sure he tells the parents that he'll get their children to help they need but he makes every effort to forget. In short the only reason that this school continues to exist is because LAUSD does not know how to deal with bad principals. As said she is probably going to stay here for many years ruining the quality of education and making the work environment so toxic that only new teachers who don't know what they're doing will remain on staff. Oh he might be able to make do with a few brow beaten veterans but they're not going to do very good work and he's barely going to get them to show up to work with a fake smile on their face.Teacher Review7mo ago - Check out schools near 950 W 46th St.

"I lived in this neighborhood for over a year. The weekends are loud you can hear music being played from houses down the street. Not walkable at all. Huge dogs everywhere and doesn’t feel the safest. Pretty dirty and unmaintained. Closest grocery store is a food for less which is dirty and not where I would want to buy my groceries."

There's a laundry mat right across the street from where I live so it's really convenient when laundry needs to be done a plus about that is I don't have to cross a busy intersection it's right on the corner of a residential neighborhood. "There are a lot of lose dogs around the neighborhood and many aren’t trained so it can pose a threat to your dog. People don’t pick up after their dogs so there is poop on the sidewalks. Also it can be hard to walk your dog because there is a lot of trash on the street and sidewalks so your dog might chew things up. "

We have 3 in a 8 block radius There is a homeless problem; that’s all over the country Theft is very low people respect each other’s property in that way. "Be diligent parents regardless of your neighborhood. Children look to their parents for guidance and protection. If economic means makes an undesirable neighborhood more suitable, bring awareness to your children about the importance of being humble, yet not allowing that same economical situation to be a hindrance to achievement.
