MOVE-OUT CLEANING CHECKLIST
RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSIT
The following is essential to the prompt security deposit disposition.
Residents must make an appointment with owner for final walk-through inspection if they wish to be present. If resident declines to walk-thru the owner will walk-thru and make note of any areas in need of attention and compare the move-out condition with the move-in conditions as noted on the residents move-in checklist.
Owner must have a forwarding address for security deposit refund. The time allotted for the security disposition is (21) days from surrender date of premises. The surrender date is not acknowledged until all residents have vacated the premises, removed all personal property, and turned in the keys to management. If there are multiple residents, management can only disburse one (1) security deposit refund check including all resident's names. Separate checks are not allowed under any circumstances.
GENERAL
o Replace all burnt out light bulbs.
o Check smoke alarm battery and replace if inoperable.
o Wipe down all windowsills and window pieces. Clean all window glass on the interior.
o Clean all light fixtures and globes.
o Replace any burnt out light bulbs with exact type and proper wattage bulbs usually noted on fixture.
o If applicable wipe down all ceiling fans removing dust buildup from blades.
o Wipe down all cobwebs
o Wipe down all baseboards throughout unit to remove marks and scuffs.
o Clean all doors with mild cleanser and sponge.
o Mop all floors and remove heel marks or stains.
o Sweep any patio or porches.
o Wipe off all light switches and outlet plates.
o Dispose of all trash on the premises properly.
o Clean furnace air return vent.
o If walls are damaged resident must make repairs or be charged for repairs.
o Remove all items from storage closet or other storage areas. Sweep out storage areas and remove
cobwebs.
BEDROOMS AND LIVING AREAS
o Wipe down all shelves.
o If applicable clean all window blinds.
CARPET
o Have professionally cleaned and allow air circulation to dry out carpet.
KITCHEN
o Oven: Clean inside of oven and broiler, oven racks, wipe down inside and out, remove cleaner residue.
o Stove: Clean top thoroughly, don't forget drip pans and underside of cook top. Carefully pull out stove
and clean the sides, underneath and behind stove. Clean vent hood and exhaust fan filter.
o Refrigerator and Freezer: Remove all food clean thoroughly inside and outside. Pull out refrigerator and
clean behind, under and around. Turn off refrigerator and prop doors open.
o Cabinets and Drawers: Remove all food. Wipe out insides of cabinets to remove all dust and crumbs.
Wipe down fronts of all cabinets and drawers.
o Counters: Wipe down thoroughly. Remove all grease spots.
o Sinks: Scour sinks (cleanser with bleach will remove most stains), rinse well and polish fixtures.
o Walls: Wipe any food particles or grease off walls.
BATHROOMS
o Tub/Shower: Clean tub and shower walls with non-abrasive cleaner. Wipe down outside. Remove
mildew. (Tub and shower walls must be free of all soap residue and mildew).
o Toilet: Clean and disinfect toilet bowl. Wipe down all of toilet (tank, seat and base all the way to the
floor).
o Cabinets and Drawers: Remove all personal items. Clean inside of cabinet and drawers. Wipe down
exterior of cabinets.
o Sink: Clean sink and countertop. Rinse well. Polish fixtures.
GARAGE OR CARPORT
o Sweep and clean floor of garage or carport. Remove any oil stains or residue. Leave garage door
opener(s) on kitchen counter/top drawer, or return to office with keys.
EXTERIOR/YARD
o Mow/weed front and back yards
o Trim bushes.
