BMES is an excellent school with an extremely dedicated, enthusiastic and effective principal. The teachers and all of the support staff are professional, devoted and fun. The Arts program offers dance and drama on top of art and music. There are many clubs for the kids to join in the school such as drama, dance, chorus and band. The before/after school program is also excellent. We have moved multiple times for husband's job and with our kids being age 8, 14 & 19 we have experienced many elementary schools, and this one is by far the best. We moved here when our 14 year old was in 5th grade and he was welcomed, joined the drama club and got a leading role in the school play (which is performed at the Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center adjacent to BMES). We saw him blossom from a relatively shy young man to a theater star in one year. He also was nominated and featured in an art show and presented with a wonderful gift of art supplies. Our daughter started Kinder there and has enjoyed her time there and has had absolutely wonderful teachers (she is now in 2nd grade). She was recently diagnosed with a small learning disability and is in an IEP. We couldn't be more pleased and impressed with the additional help she is receiving and are already seeing tremendous improvement and confidence on her part. The PTO is also the best I have experienced having volunteered at many schools. I have never seen such a dedicated PTO President and board as well as volunteers. I can't wait until it is safe again for parents to volunteer there again. It's a really great place to volunteer and meet other parents.

Was class of 2022 and had been waiting to write this review. Will start with the fact I was an AP kid that had teachers who either A)didn’t care enough to teach or B) had teachers who didn’t know what they taught. I also had three different counselors over my years, who let me slip through the cracks. I emailed them winter of ‘21 after making up a class that everything was in order for me to graduate that spring. They confirmed everything was good at that point. May of ‘22, I was pulled out of the middle of graduation practice(the day before I walked and in front of my WHOLE class) and was told I missed a half semester of an elective that I had to make up in a day. I showed them the email from my previous counselor that stated I was fine and they did nothing to fix it and never offered an apology. Took me 15 hours to complete it so I could walk the next day with a whole extra credit than I needed :/ My younger siblings never went here after that. Please, take it from me, don’t send your child here there’s better schools within 20 mins from here to go to. This is just an example of how disorganized the school really is.

I am more or less not recognized as my son’s mother, due to my mom and her husband not giving me custody back after all the terrible things that happened when my son was about 1 or 2 years old! No matter how many times we tell them, the school says they need a court paper stating that I’m his mother!! Frustrating because my son has ALWAYS lived with me and I’ve raised him by myself!
