5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is completely and utterly disorganized, and the leadership must be held accountable. There is a constant lack of communication, and staff members are frequently left unsure of what is happening in the building. This ongoing dysfunction directly impacts students, especially in a neighborhood where children are already marginalized and rely heavily on strong, consistent leadership. Instead, what they experience is confusion, inconsistency, and a lack of direction. Both the principal and the assistant principals in this building should be placed under investigation. The level of disorganization and disconnect is not occasional. It is persistent. There is little evidence that leadership is aware of what is happening day to day, and even less evidence that concerns raised by staff, students, or families are taken seriously or addressed with urgency. It is particularly alarming that bullying continues to occur despite the presence of parent coordinators and designated bullying liaisons. These roles exist to protect students, yet incidents continue while leadership appears unaware or unresponsive. Students are left navigating harmful situations without the support they deserve, and staff are left without clear guidance or follow-through.Our students deserve better. They deserve a safe, structured, and responsive school environment where leadership is present, informed, and accountable. When leadership fails to communicate, fails to respond, and fails to protect students, it creates an atmosphere where problems grow and students suffer. It is frustrating, disheartening, and unacceptable that this level of dysfunction continues without intervention.Other Review2mo ago6 Reviews - Ps 149 Danny Kaye

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI feel like my son has wasted a year at PS 149. I am a Pre-K parent, and my son is not being challenged with the curriculum at his public school. He came into his class knowing all of his letters and sounds, and reading beginner books. I don't see where he has learned anything this year, he has been stagnant. They are learning things he already knows, and therefore he is lost in the cracks, and acting out in class because what they are learning he has already mastered. I feel he is being cheated, and the school has not addressed his needs. His teacher has made statements to me that my son can go to first grade academically, but his behavior will hinder him. I have never had any problems with my son acting out in school, which he started day care at 3 months old, until this year.Parent Review16y ago3 Reviews - Jhs 292 Margaret S Douglas

"Rules to living in East Flatbush; 1) Learn the Alternate Side Parking Rules, 2) If you don’t find parking on the street by 5PM, then you’ll have to look 5AM, 3) There’s a lot of working families that are predominantly immigrants so respect everyone’s culture, and 4) Get used to house parties and loud music on the weekends, and especially around Labor Day Weekend."

"I move here from East New York, Brooklyn at 8-9 years old then everyone treated me as a family member born there but I wasn’t born here , I was raised here here even when I move to the Bronx I was coming out here everyday after school or for work .. and it’s a mixed culture neighborhood with unity and love for each other ."

"Great commute to the city. Not far from buses and train stations. I commute daily from east Flatbush to lower Manhattan on a daily basis to go back and forth from work to home. My children also commute back and forth on the trains and buses to get to school, activities and even on the weekends to spend time with tripwire families. "

"Brownsville/East New York is Changing for the better!!! Buyers are now realizing that you can buy a big, beautiful older home, usually with parking, driveway/garage and still be close to the 3/4 train for easy access to north Brooklyn or Manhattan. Many of the homes also have balconies, rare finds in Brooklyn. I live in Manhattan for years and decided to buy a home here. I highly recommend looking in Brownsville/ENY area. "

"Brownsville and East New York has some big, old beautiful townhouses. The neighborhood is still affordable compared to the rest of Brooklyn but it is quickly changing. If you are looking to beat the gentrification rush then it’s really worth it"
