"I live in downtown San Mateo. San Mateo is a nice place, but I have mixed feelings about it. There are many restaurants, grocery stores, and activities to enjoy. The bus and train stations are very close, which is convenient. However, I dislike that some people throw too much garbage or furniture onto the sidewalks. I believe it's very important to keep the neighborhood clean and safe. Another issue is the frequent theft of packages. I live next to the creek and often see homeless people entering through my building to access the creek. I don’t think that's safe. "

"Maybe cars on the big street! But I think overall the area is pretty safe! Neighbors are great and friendly! :)"
  • Abby B.
"Lots of restaurants and shops in the area, decent amount of pedestrian traffic, close to Caltrain, feels very safe."
  • Bellahk
"easy to go to work good school, good people, feel safe, you see police driving around and make sure everything ok"
