Pittsburgh Phillips is a superb public school (K-5) in the heart of one of the most eclectic neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. My family relocated to Pittsburgh (via Alaska and orginally from San Francisco) and I immediately fell in love with this school. The parental involvement was evident from the moment I stepped onto the campus and went to my first PTO meeting. The parents and teachers welcome you with open arms and there is a sense of community. I have particularly enjoyed my son's 3rd grade teacher, Ms. El Sabbagh. She has been the biggest advocate of my child and she ensured that he received the academic services that he needed to thrive. If you are a parent who enjoys the diversity of a good public school with excellent and committed parents and teachers, then this school is for you!

Highly motivated staff. Excellent connections to the wider community with mentoring and after-school programs. Peaceful, positive environment.

The school has excellent leadership & teaching staff. I've seen a great deal of improvement in my son's reading ability plus the have a solid instrumental program. The school principal is by far the best I've seen in the two districts my son has attended

This school is phenomenal. We are so fortunate to go here. Our daughter loves school, has made wonderful friends. From the first week the teachers all seem to know every child by name. Students are greeted each morning with an all-school assembly with drumming, singing, a welcome message by the Principal, and the school rock band rocking out. Its a fantastic way to start the day! There are tons of field trips, lots of art and music incorporated into each day. We love it here!

Some teachers are great. But there are a few teachers that I cannot understand as to why they have choose to teach. Some are rude when you ask for help and do not support the children in a positive way. There are fights and some teachers or staff just stand there and watch. I know because I have seen several videos posted on Facebook before the restriction of cellphones.

I overall had a horrible experience at brashear high school, before I get into it I wanna say that the nice thing about this place is most of the teachers, they were really nice and a lot of them were funny and engaging, aside from that the counselors are horrible, I was battling anxiety and depression my entire time there with little to no help, I was dismissed multiple times when I tried to explain I needed changes in my learning environment and eventually the counselors just seemed to completely ignore me, I felt extremely unsafe the entire time because I was expected to perform the same as all the other students while I was mentally and psychically (due to lack of sleep) disadvantaged. that's all I can really say about this school, im honestly disgusted and my life really hasn't gotten any better, I still struggle every day and my relationship with my parents was ruined because of what the counselors told them...if it weren't for the nice teachers i would rate this zero

Excellent school, great service, for anyone looking to settle down in the highland park area
