5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is undervalued on greatschools. The staff is amazing. The teachers and administrators care about the students beyond test scores and work with the parents and students with the success of the child in mind. It is the home of the gifted program for Joplin schools and houses some of the most dedicated teachers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.Parent Review10y ago1 Reviews - Joplin High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has horrible placement for classes. They emphasize their Technology center but do not apply admission to it evenly across the board. Students can be failing multiple subjects and still be admitted while others with consistent A & B grades can be completely denied. The school imposes a study tract of what THEY think your student should be. If they can get kids shunted to the local collages then it looks better for them. They are more beholden to the community investors than the actual kids. If you can get in, there are great teachers and programs to be a part of. But if you don't tic the right buttons - they won't do much to help you, or they'll make promises they won't keep. I loved the Joplin School District but the experiences my family has had with this high school has put the final nail in the coffin on my hope for public education in this area.Parent Review4y ago9 Reviews - East Middle School

"I live in this hood and I would totally recommend living here only if you like people who call the cops on you for everything you do. So just make sure your a liberal then you should be ok"

"Lots of people walk their dogs up and down our street all day long. There are no sidewalks and the road is narrow but everyone is very dog friendly. "

"Like anywhere you take the good with the bad. It won’t take long to figure out if you’re in a bad neighborhood and as long as you stay away from the parts of town that are known for that type of activity it’s a nice place to raise a family. "

"Need a car. Kids are relatively safe, but most neighborhoods are busy road adjacent or don’t have a lot of other kids."

"Joplin is a friendly community to live in, for the most part if you stay out of the parts of town you know are known for having a higher crime rate you’ll be just fine. "

"We had a dog for a short time and walking it was fine, however there are a lot of other dogs around in fences and some seem really aggressive and I often doubted the ability of the fence to keep the dog containedz"

"There is one small park in our area (Saginaw) right outside of Joplin. It's a very well kept, quiet neighborhood. Everybody watches out for one another and on a first name basis. No heavy traffic which makes it an excellent neighborhood for children to play. "
