Boothbay Elementary is a very good school. The teachers and support staff make every day a new adventure. The school is a fun and secure environment for all the students. The community as a whole offers so many activities for the kids and they take great pride in their sports, music, drama and other after school programs. There are always teachers available to stay after and help if a student needs a little extra attention to get caught up. The YMCA has fantastic facilities and being just across the street from the school makes it super easy for parents who work to know that the kids are safe and having fun after school, until a parent can get there to pick them up. The school is a perfect reflection of the caring community of Boothbay. A wonderful place to live and grow up.

First off, I love Boothbay. But for many reasons I wouldn't recommend this school. If you're good in school, and leave, and even mention that school that you're going to is a bit better, everyone will say that you can do just as well in Boothbay if you try harder. Promising? No. So basically you have to rise above the average student in order to succeed. Although it sounds at first like a great initiative, if you think about it, kids and teachers are basically just saying the school sucks and you need to thrive in that kind of environment in order to do good things. Aka go to a Community College. The school has potential but it needs more teachers that haven't lived in the area their whole lives and are used to the student's lifestyle. Drugs, sex, etc. are things that any honest student would joke to you "Oh yeah, that stuff happens in the hallways there." Also "I don't know why teachers said High School would be hard, it's so easy here." Both things I've heard. So yes, if you want to learn to succeed in bad environments, this is the place for you. But why not rise above the average student at a school where the average student is on Honor Roll? Also, other schools that I've been to have been up to 4 grades higher than what's being taught at Boothbay. The only thing I learned here was how to become tough and stay away from people that you shouldn't hang out with.

I have had four students go through EES and we admire the kindness and support from all staff at this school. Three of our four had learning issues—ADHD and dyslexia—and were treated with compassion and patience. Their IEP’s were appropriate and followed. My children definitely enjoyed their time at EES from k-6th grade for three and one started in 4th grade. They still keep in touch with classmates and current and previous staff even though they are all on their own now. Each of them have has successful high school and college experiences and are now in well paying life-long careers. We definitely thank the formative years they spent learning the values and core educational experiences they got from EES! 100% recommend!
