This school has the potential to be great. They have great teachers for the most part. 3 out of the 4 teachers we have encountered with my son have helped him flourish instead of bring him down to be the same as the other students to make it easier. They have shoved so many children in these classrooms that they all get lost in the mix. No individualized teaching can happen. No leeway or expectations made to better students that need it. We have taken my son out of this school to help him to the best of our ability.

Attended Union R-XI from K-12. I went on to graduate from a top 100 university on the East Coast. The school district serves its purpose to conduct general basic education to small town and rural kids. I would not move to the area to attend Union schools. My parents worked in town, so our options were Union or Borgia is Washington (I am not Catholic). I was lucky to have parents that spent money to send me to camps and other enrichment activities. Otherwise, I would have fallen short on college prep. Now, I live in St. Louis County and I’m selective about where I reside. Currently, my primary residence is located in the Rockwood School District. I’m giving the district 3/5 because they serve a purpose and provide general education.

Single parent and longtime educator (20 years) here. If you have the option to send your children to a different school, I would not hesitate. I am in the process of withdrawing my own child due to the severity of the bullying they have experienced. The incidents have become so intense and traumatic that they border on abuse.Despite multiple formal bullying reports and repeated conversations with the principal, superintendent, and school counselor, I have seen no meaningful action taken to protect my child or address the situation. The lack of follow-through has been deeply alarming.In addition, many faculty members appear overworked, overwhelmed, or simply unwilling to intervene. Their responses to serious concerns often default to the dismissive “just ignore it,” which is not only ineffective but harmful.As both a parent and an educator, I expect a school environment that is safe, responsive, and supportive. Unfortunately, this has not been our experience.
