4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a current high school student who attended Walker Junior High School, my experience was positive, but there are some important things future students should know.Walker focuses heavily on project-based learning rather than traditional knowledge-based learning, and while that helps build creativity, collaboration, and presentation skills, it doesn’t directly prepare students for the structure at Kennedy High School (more unit tests). I took all honors classes in junior high and continue to take honors classes in high school, and the shift is noticeable (especially in honors science). High school requires much stronger test-taking skills, studying, and content memorization, so be prepared to adjust and learn how to study effectively for exams. In terms of safety, during my time there, the school felt relatively safe. There were minimal fights, and most issues could be avoided by making smart choices. Your experience really depends on who you surround yourself with. If you stick with the right people, stay focused on your academics, and avoid unnecessary drama, you’ll be fine. It’s honestly sad to see Walker currently rated 3/10, especially since less than three years ago, it was at a 6/10. I know school ratings can scare some families, but from my experience, your success there depends largely on how much you challenge yourself. If you take rigorous classes, work hard, and use junior high as a transition period to build strong habits, you can create a solid foundation for high school.Overall, Walker can be a good stepping stone, as long as you take responsibility for your own growth.Other Review3mo ago14 Reviews - Steve Luther Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLuther School is a great place to be, and its small size helps build a close community. As a former student, I'd say I received a pretty strong education, and most teachers were very kind and supportive. Overall, don't hesitate to send your kids to Luther School.Other Review3mo ago12 Reviews - Check out schools near 8791 Walker St #50.

"Dog owners would like to live in the neighborhood because it is dog friendly, but it is kind of annoying that some owners leave poop bags everywhere "

"Cypress is pretty nice, clean, safe , secure and lively place to live. It has good quality schools, less traffic and quite neighborhoods. Couple of good public gardens are also around where you can go for walk. People around are nice, have not seen any unpleasant incident in my last 2 years of stay. Community has mix of people from all over the world. I recommend this place for stay."

"People are walking dogs all the time and it’s a pleasant environment for animals. However, be careful of coyotes because they are very present. Walk dogs close by and on a leash to be safe. Many coyotes have been seen in the area and reports of attacking small animals are not uncommon. Unfortunately with the river beds nearby, there isn’t much that can be done except being aware of your surroundings and being prepared. "
