4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am extremely disappointed in Engleburg Elementary (MPS) for not allowing my cousin to participate in his graduation ceremony.This wasn’t just a missed event—this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment taken away. A core memory, something every child looks forward to after years of effort, was denied. And for what?Boys of color are already the most misrepresented, misled, and misunderstood in Milwaukee. In a district that claims to be inclusive and student-centered, this decision felt like punishment—not guidance, not support.What makes it even more disheartening is that while other MPS schools celebrate their students with full ceremonies and cap-and-gown traditions, Engleburg doesn’t even provide those. Our kids already get less—and now they’re being told they don’t deserve to be seen at all.This isn’t about policy—it’s about respect.
