South Miami Middle School is a high performing magnet school for grades 6th through 8th. The students are our number one priority, and our staff is very caring and professional. Our school has been an "A" rated school for over 20 years offering engaging core academics and electives providing instruction based on the Florida's B.E.S.T standards. Middle grade students in 6,7, and 8 may enroll in selected senior high school courses (Algebra, Geometry, Physical Science and Biology.) Subject area classes are also offered at varied levels depending on students' needs and test results: regular, advanced, gifted, and high school credit courses. Instruction in classes incorporate ESE and ESOL strategies. SMMCS is committed to providing quality educational and extracurricular experiences and supports. Various after school classes and sports are offered like cheerleading, cooking, martial arts, mindfulness, dance, academic tutoring, basketball and many other clubs and activities. It is an award winning, nationally recognized magnet and recipient of the National Magnet School of America "Excellence" award.

I have been an educator at this school for the past 19 years, and as many of my colleagues will attest, South Miami Senior is a hidden gem. Our specialized programs offer opportunities for all students to participate in programs they can connect with, making their high school experiences memorable and worthwhile.
