7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a family who has seen the best of both worlds, moving from Waynewood to Stratford Landing Elementary, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. While we absolutely loved our time at Waynewood, and it is a fantastic school, there's a unique and special energy at Stratford Landing that has made us feel so at home. From the moment we joined, we were struck by the incredibly welcoming and engaged community. The families here, along with a truly dedicated PTA, create a collaborative spirit that goes far beyond school hours, making it feel less like a school and more like a second home. The staff at Stratford Landing are nothing short of exceptional. The teachers and administrators are not just educators but true partners in our children's growth, providing a loving and supportive environment where they can thrive. The academic program is rigorous and well-rounded, and our kids are excited to go to school every day. The communication from the school is outstanding, and we always feel in the loop and confident that our children are in the best hands. For any family coming from a great school like Waynewood, rest assured that Stratford Landing Elementary has all the academic rigor you expect, but with a heart and community spirit that truly sets it apart.Parent Review7mo ago26 Reviews - Check out schools near 8231 Stacey Rd.

"That they must love their children. They must complement the efforts of the teachers. And they must pray together and stay together"

"Feels like a small town , not a suburb. Good schools, small shops, locally owned businesses. Close to Old Town and DC. Not VERY diverse, but getting better. Good farmers markets, "

"I have lived here since 1982 (36 years) and I have enjoyed the neighborhood very much! I raised both my children here and feel very safe. The house values have continued to increase over the years and the neighborhood remains a great place to start a family."

"I have lived here for 37 years and raised two children here. Great area. It has A great community pool. It is a great neighborhood to raise kids and to live. The only reason I’m moving is to live closer to my kids and my grandkids."

"This area of only single-family detached homes is often an overlooked jewel in the Northern VA and DC metro area. Most of the area was fully built out by the end of the 1960's and the low density character of the neighborhoods will not change. Quarter and half acre lots with large trees are the norm. But you have to like that sort of thing -- the immediate area has little shopping and few restaurants. Although there are maybe 50 restaurants within 15 minutes by car, only 4 could be considered within walking distance. Awesome place to raise you children (and pets) and yet popular among retirees. The local elementary school is the Arts and Science Focus school with emphasis on science, the fine arts, choral and instrumental music, and dance and drama. The school also offers the optional Spanish language immersion program for grades 1 through 6. The next closest school offers the Gifted and Talented program (for those who qualify). Easy commute to DC by car -- but by public transportation, not so much."

"This is a friendly area of only single-family homes with large yards, easy access to recreation and great schools. Close-in location without big city traffic or congestion. Children can safely walk to elementary and middle schools. Adjacent to George Washington Parkway and Fort Hunt Park with miles of biking and walking trails."

"Having lived here for over 40 years this is a fantastic area located near the Potomac River and easy access to points North (DC) via GW Pkwy and other main roads. Near Ft Belvoir (Army) is great for our many military families (active/retired) for the new state of art hospital. Great walking and biking trails along with parks. Community sports programs are considered the best in the county and range from just fun neighborhood leagues to very competitive travel teams for the serious athlete. A great place to raise a family and be a kid."

"I lived two doors down from this house for about 10 years. Stratford Landing is one of the best neighborhoods that I have ever lived in. The people are friendly, close to GW PKWY, Mt Vernon Bike Trail and Old Town Alex. There are food delivery and gourmet take out services within a couple of miles (on the way home from DC off Ft Hunt Rd). There is a first class recreation center nearby with various activities, including ice skating!"
