About this House

1920 California Bungalow with original moldings and charm. This house is built of all old growth redwood (you can hardly cut the stuff it is so strong) Electrical and complete re-piping done in 2002 with new services to the workshop. Home has an additional hobby-shop/studio for an artist type; or could become a detached laundry and pantry. There is a 1/4 bath in the workshop - with hot and cold running water in both shops, as well as an outside sink for the gardener and BBQ chef. Juvenile fruit trees in the back accompany the garden area and green house. RV parking slab out back for up to 32ft long stowage. Long 3 - 4 vehicle front driveway for off-street parking

The interior has been completely redone, yet retains its historical elements. Original crown molding in the front rooms. A beautiful sun-room with original antique glass (wavy pains). New windows through-out. There is a direct-vent gas stove in the living room. The living room and dining room have red oak built-ins. New windows through house. Entire house has been wired with Cat 6 cable for phone and/or Internet. Attic and walls have been insulated and attic has flooring, lighting, outlets, and drop-downstairs for easy access - lots of easy-to-get-to stowage.

Both bed rooms have new Berber carpet which keeps your feet warm on cool winter mornings.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and disposal. Plenty of new electrical outlets as well.

The home is about 1 mile from the beach, and half way between downtown Long Beach and Belmont Shore. This site's bird's eye view from the east is the most recent photo.

Neighborhood Description

We are in a historical neighborhood, so that means no huge "Mc Mansions" will be going up, nor will any condos, apartments or back houses be added in the future. There are only a few in the whole neighborhood, but none can be added. The neighbors are mostly owners and help each other out, which is nice in the city.

"Very dog friendly area. But some dog owners don’t pick up their waste. But that’s pretty much every place with a high dog population."
  • Charlie.rodas
"There are a lot of dogs in the area but a few owners are always keeping their dogs off leashes. As a parent with little ones this can be unnerving when overly excited dogs come running towards my kids. Even with much reassurance, I would be much more comfortable with a leash"
  • Martinique B.
"The diversity & peacefulness of our community is one of the main reasons why Rose Park is a wonderful place to call home"
  • Ben S.
