8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is in 7th grade at Oak Hill, so his 2nd year there. I find that the teachers are great and truly care and get to know their students. The same for the principal and assistant principals. My son has an IEP due to slight Autism and ADHD and the educational and emotional support has been very good. Each year there has been a designated special education teacher for his classroom that helps to make sure those students with an IEP receive the additional help in learning that they need. Several of his teachers reached out at the beginning of the year to have phone calls with me to get to know their students needs better and were very open to my suggestions and comments. Last year, when needed, teachers were open to having a special meeting to discuss my son's needs and implement the suggestions so everything worked better for him. While my son is not the greatest student and would rather always be playing basketball than studying, I see him engaged, learning and flourishing here. Overall, I would definitely recommend Oak Hill as a solid school for learning.Parent Review7mo ago6 Reviews - Memorial Spaulding Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSince the new principal has taken over there has been a lack of accountability and sense of community. When addressed with concerns she does not approach things with a team mindset. There is a lack of communication and helpfulness and it’s been disheartening. Overall the school appears clean and well staffed however there is a lack of collaboration with families when it comes to academics. We are really left in the dark until it almost feels too late to help your child. It’s been a terrible year. Needless to say we won’t be returning next year.Parent Review2mo ago9 Reviews - Newton South High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat reputation. Fails to live up to it. Academics are beyond mediocre and at times can be quite bad. Most teachers can not teach, some are excellent, it’s really all luck. Way better than it used to be in terms of academic pressure because at least kids aren’t offing themselves anymore….? Toxic social environment. Administration is performative and tries to push wokeness onto students but epically fails because kids are still bullies. If you aren’t wealthy, white/asian, obsessed with getting into an ivy, and insanely egotistical you won’t fit in with more than half of the school. South kids don’t appreciate individuality. They are mostly robotic and all the same. Pretty bad school overall. Miserable experience.Other Review1y ago12 Reviews - Check out schools near 82 E Brookline St.

"There are people walking dogs all the time and they take good care to clean up after them. Dog owners are welcome!"

"The neighborhood has fantastic access to the Cove on the Charles River, a wonderful park. The area is quiet, but has amazing accessibility to the whole Boston area via I-90, I-95, Green Line, Commuter Rail, and Express Bus. The community hosts an annual PorchFest block party with dozens of bands playing on front porches, which is a highlight every year."

"There is a grand piano out on the town green all summer and most evenings people gather there to eat and admire the community-maintained gardens while they listen to whoever plays. The Harvest Fair in the fall is well attended and a great time. The weekly farmers market is first-rate as is swimming in Crystal Lake. And then there’s Halloween, when so many people go all-out. "

"I grew up in newton. Lots to do! Crystal lake, 4th of July at Fessenden, farmers markets. Nice sense of community and very safe! Now feels more urban but still come back from downtown Boston to visit family on the weekends."
