I have six children and over the course of the last 20 years of sending the to school I will say North Lakeland Elementary is by far the WORST. As a paren of a child with different abilities I have felt that my voice when trying to advocate for my child is dismissed. There is no real care to ensure children with different abilities are given the tools to be successful and become productive members of society as they get older and grow into young men and woman. Writing, reading and became to do simple math are all things that are necessary in every day life and if a child needs assistance in these things until they master them why not provide. I don’t care that tablets and computers are used, there are still many things throughout life that will require reading and writing by hand. To ask questions and get open ended answers about my chid’s IEP is insane. To receive an attitude due to asking questions and questioning the reasoning behind things on her IEP is not only disrespectful but also alarming that these are the people that are supposed to be caring for and teaching children with different abilities and needs. I assure you I will not stop until my voice is heard, I will never be quiet or just agree to whatever as this is my child’s education and growth. I will be taking this further than here and I will continue until things change.

The school is terrible.I will not recommend willingly taking your child here.There have been many brutal fights. The guidance counselor cannot find an easier way to take out their anger than on the students. The teachers are nice, but only a few. The admins don’t care. Someone almost died and they didn’t even try to help. They waited until the fight stopped to even drag her to the nurse. If you want your kid to live long enough to get married, don’t take them here.

My child has not been the easiest, very respectful but lacking motivation and the teachers and admin have been there with encouragement as well as hard life lessons for him. He is taking school more seriously due to the admin/teacher involvement - they did not let him slip through the cracks.
