"Safe and secure place to live. Beautiful countryside and diverse wildlife. Diverse cultures and calm environments "
  • Victoria Mitchell
"Too long. At least there are a few ways to go to work and get home. So there are options. A So there are plenty of food and drink options on the way if you take highway 72"
  • Gfa43
"Very dog and children friendly! Friendly attitude towards dogs! Nice sidewalks and open areas for dogs to play!"
  • Amberrylane
"Amenities are conveniently located within a 5-10 minute drive of our neighborhood. Many residents use golf carts within the community."
  • Cheripie37
"The neighborhood is not only safe it’s a community. Children are important to us and we look after them and each other. Athens is a wonderful place to live!"
  • Gfa43
"I have lived here for years and everyone speaks and waves! They even stop and chat if one is outside ! We have new nice restaurants and a quaint downtown square with speciality shops ! Many churches to choose from and outdoors parks and activities!"
  • Wgreenwalt
"I’m retired; hence, I don’t commute. However, most places I go are easily within 15 minutes. Doctors, brokers, and restaurants are all close."
  • Henry C.
"It’s quite here, it safe. The one only problem I have living in my area is one episode I had to call the Sheriff department, and they took way too long. Other than that this is a great area to live."
  • Rlamar926%40gmail.com
"The traffic is more congested in the mornings and after school /work, but is nothing compared to Madison and Huntsville. I work in Huntsville so it takes about 40 minutes in good driving conditions. As far as staying in Athens goes, I find that it's easy to get around and everything is pretty convenient. "
  • Donna
"I’ve been here my whole life-35 years. It is a great place to live and raise a family. I will never live anywhere else."
  • Valarie P.
"Great location. Convenient to Madison and Athens, as well as Mazda plant. Quiet neighborhood. "
  • Joycelyn K.
"There’s lots of dogs in our neighborhood. Not usually on walks, they are usually fenced in the backyard. "
  • Brenna B.
"It’s a decent neighborhood for people to retire and live the rest of their old lives in. If you’re younger and looking for growth opportunities, this is not the neighborhood to live in. "
  • Heather L.
"high traffic with drivers who don't follow the speed limit or act as cautious or observant as they should be"
  • Tasha M.
"Always watch your children outside no matter what!!!!! This is a calm and safe neighborhood but you never know who’s visiting of just passing threw. "
  • David M.
"Great place to raise a family. Keep pressing this community to have better services and infrastructure. Need sidewalks and bike lanes bad. "
  • David M.
"99% of commute is by car. Need more attention to sidewalks, bike lanes and green ways. Not many options to walk, bike or ride to restaurants and grocery. "
  • Julie K.
"The only way to get around in my town is by car. I do see a few brave souls who walk or ride bikes but it is dangerous because there are no sidewalks and the street lanes are narrow. Athens city counsel needs to address this because Athens is growing. 2 great colleges and Steelcase and Toyota makes it a popular town for families of all ages. Sidewalks and wider lanes would lift moods and reduce bellies."
  • Clint G.
"good place to raise your family the special neefs program at East Limestone is top notch. Great staff and kids"
  • Chele S.
"absolutely nothing, this neighborhood is horrible, drug dealers and the police just ignore them. I don't reccomend anyone move here"
  • Trulia User
"People driving fast, not being considerate while walking their dogs. People leaving trash out that their dogs may get into."
  • Tmcdarby
"Athens is a blend of old and new. Beautiful restored homes, a square filled with shops and restaurants. Plus we are close to everything. "
  • Julie K.
"My neighborhood is safe and surprisingly robbery free. Its close to down town but there is no public transportation."
  • Julie K.
"Dog owners in this neighborhood don't keep their dogs on a leash, beware of dog bites! They also don't spay or neuter pets."
  • Sherry B.
"grew up in the neighborhood and love the old fashioned way of everything.. whole family evolved and are our roots... ancestry.. "
  • M. J.
"Seems like everyone has a dog! People walk their dogs frequently, and most animals are very approachable."
  • SoCharm
"Our neighborhood still has that country feel to it. Everybody cares for their neighbor and watches out for each other but gives them their privacy as well. "
  • Rosewg
"Lawn care, sidewalks, good lighting, friendly neighborhood, homeowners association keeps the neighborhood looking good. B"
  • Southerncharm
"It’s a dog friendly neighborhood. Most people have their dogs in fenced yards but everyone watches out for each other, to include each other’s pets. "
  • Jera E.
"I live in a rural county area so lots of people have farm type of animals that are fenced in which most of the time include dogs and cats so I’m sure dogs are most definitely welcome around here"
  • Ania L.
"I have a family friend that lives here as well did I. It is a very quiet, calm place. You are not too far from what you need."
