Monthly Furnished Rentals For 30 Nights Or More
Langridge Lodge and The Blue Room, clean and quiet accommodation in our corner of Alpine, with every charming amenity within walking distance!. The Blue Room is our second charming quiet studio with a queen size bed in the beautiful little town of Alpine. Clean, quiet and comfortable, as pretty as we can make it, the room is a little sanctuary out here in our far blue mountains. These are the Davis Mountains, west of Marathon's Glass Mountains, part of the great Rocky Mountain massif extending west and north into New Mexico and Colorado. The Blue Room is located at the junction of Highway 90 and Cockrell Street, on the very corner of Highway 118, which heads down south to the Big Bend. The fully-equipped shared kitchen is ready if you wish to cook on site, store food/drinks in the refrigerator, help yourself to the Keurig (pods are in your room), etc. Next to the kitchen is the courtyard, perfect for your morning cup of coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner, or an evening cocktail; a firepit is there for warmth in the cooler months. From there you can hear the bells from Sul Ross up on the hill.We clean only with organic citrus cleaner; no chemicals are used on the property. Our linens, rugs, etc. are laundered with organic soap and then aired outside in the sun. This time of year all of nature can tell that spring is coming: the mockingbirds are back! Elk can be seen early in the morning in the wide grassy slopes under the palisades near Fort Davis. Javelina continue their weekly rounds here in town, looking for pecans; often there are deer nearby in the early morning and evening. The morning air is alive with dovesong; hummingbirds have returned. We have a great new restaurant west of town, "Spicewood" . There will be a list in your room of local restaurants and notable scenes and activities around town.Langridge Lodge and The Blue Room are about an hour from Big Bend National Park, and already on the road (Hwy. 118). Alpine's bookshop is within walking distance; just behind it on the same street is Cedar Coffee, where you can get a good cup of hipster coffee. Alpine has galleries where local artists, some internationally known, exhibit, and unique locally-owned shops, most within walking distance from each other and from our Lodge and The Blue Room. An array of small restaurants and streetside venders offers a variety of fresh interesting food in Alpine. Blue Water Natural Foods, just south of town on Hwy. 118, is an organic-foods grocery; "Porters" is a well-supplied locally-owned grocery store. Alpine has three or four charming historic venues for cocktails and conversation, and our Museum of the Big Bend is a four-block walk up the hill from our Lodge. Historic Big Bend Saddlery makes real-time cowboy gear and ships worldwide, as well as famous Spradley cowboy hats, still made by hand next door to the Saddlery on antique French machinery from the 1800's. In Marfa (where you can see the historic Paisano Hotel (be sure to walk all the way to the back, to the beautiful open-air screened pool) you will see the restored Court House and a lot more, bistros and coffee spots, a charming local museum, lots of galleries. Fort Davis and Marathon are twenty-five scenic minutes away toward the north and east. Our contributions help pay for buildings, food and clothing, books and supplies, and medicines, and support the teachers and staff..No pets.
