  • Mike Vasquez
"I have spent the past seven years living here, and throughout that time, I have enjoyed incredible experiences wherever I go. Each location I've visited has offered unique adventures and memorable moments, contributing to my overall happiness in this vibrant community."
  • Trulia User
"Lots of friendly dogs and owners, most are responsible, but the park often has waste not picked up and smells. Also, there is often broken glass to be cautious of on the sidewalks."
  • Trulia User
"My dog encountered amphetamines on the street in east village. It’s not safe nor clean here. "
  • Julie Gamboa
"Coming from the suburbs, it has been such a great experience. Everything is just so close. Groceries, parks, the airport, specialty stores( hardware, floral, etc), amazing restaurants and bars literally within 1-10minutes of a walk. VERY dog friendly… even in grocery stores as long as the pup is well behaved. Unfortunately, not terribly kid friendly, although there are a families with small children I’ve encountered here and there. Love it and will miss it when we leave to start a family"
  • Trulia User
"The scenery is beautiful, everything is amazing.May plan to come back and explore house hunting at some point."
  • Trulia User
"God public transportation and the commute to downtown is simple. However it’s not called the barrio for no reason"
  • Heather R.
"There are a lot of homeless in the area and party seekers make sidewalks dangerous. Great food options and proximity to Gaslamp."
  • Family I.
"Nice safe neighborhood with nice apartment buildings. There are some restaurants, petco park is close by, along with other parks"
  • Anna L. V.
"It’s prime downtown living, nice new buildings but there’s the downsides too. Lots of homeless people and it’s really loud. "
  • Arturo I. G.
"Great looking buildings and modern apartments units with great amenities. It’s also a quiet neighbourhood. "
  • M. Vigil
"I would not live here if I had kids. There is very little outdoor space and doesn’t feel safe at night. Homelessness and drug use are rampant. "
  • Amy T.
"It is an easy 15-20 min commute going north on the 5 in the morning, but the commute back in the early evening can be significantly longer. Getting around East village to do errands makes up for the commute, however. We have pretty much everything we need within walking distance."
  • Priscilla P.
"This is East of the downtown area, so a lot of high rise living. Although some families live in the buildings there are still homeless communities around the area; most who mind their own and seem harmless. There are plenty of coffee shops, places to eat and public transport (trolly) around. I’ve taken the trolly to the Mexico border and also over to Santa Fe (downtown) station to walk around. EV is also pretty central and you can get to other neighborhoods within 10-12 mins. "
  • Jamie D.
"Homeless people and human feces on the sidewalk far too often and usually very loud throughout the day with homeless people yelling prophanities"
  • Jason B.
"no grass for dogs to use, very few parks. peep is everywhere. bums sleeping 9n sidewalks make it hard to walk pet"
  • Meagan V.
"Dogs everywhere. But no dog parks. Need a dog park. On leash areas all around including the harbor."
  • Meagan V.
"Dogs everywhere but no dog park. Quartyard is okay but they really need a fenced in dog park. Some streets are lined with homeless but other areas are okay to walk your dog."
  • Nicholas M.
"Lots of homeless in the southern part of east village. Try near the community college. It’s much nicer"
  • Marcus D. S.
"Great if you like the night life and being close to gaslamp but the cons outweigh the pro’s as rent is high along with crime and the homeless."
  • Merlenette J.
"I'm sure dog owners would love it. there are a bunch of other dog owners. In my opinion there are too many dogs down here "
  • Ryan
"This neighborhood is sketchy and scary. Don’t walk alone at night (or at day, truth be told). Crime everywhere; homeless everywhere; drug use everywhere!"
  • Yvettereidy
"I’m retired.... I don’t commute. But for those who do I’m sure it’s just as easy as any other community."
  • Matthew H.
"There are always events at Petco - and not just baseball games. Neighborhood breweries and distilleries host a variety of special nights and functions on a weekly basis."
  • SChasen
"Not really a good place for dogs. There is not an abundance of parks in the area. There a couple places only. There is also some patches of artificial grass that smells badly everywhere "
  • Friendly N.
"I lived in this neighborhood for 2 years. it's affordable but certainly not the safest. also due to gentrification, the prices are increasing in rent but the neighborhood isn't getting safer. if you don't mind the hood and an occasional shouting here and there, many transients then move here "
  • Wonisha G.
"East Village is a growing and lively community in downtown San Diego. located near the historical Gaslamp quarter."
  • Drotiniano2011
"Downtown area means people and cars are everywhere , homeless people run rampant in the area, as long as your pet is trained, there should be no problem "
  • Anibarra
"Nice restaurants! Close to everything! Chinese food, theather, seaport Village, peruvian food! Nice restaurants! "
  • Lorenakerr
"I love downtown San Diego. I’ve lived here for almost 20 years. We have Petco Park, Horton Plaza, and the Bay. I live on the 16th floor with the view of Coronado. And Our Lady of The Rosary in little Italy. Everything is in close procsimity."
  • Drew H.
"Close to downtown attractions which makes up for the noise, homelessness, and persistent pee smell (mostly from animals). "
  • Rebekah4630330
"Very busy college/high/elementary school traffic. Smart Corner is a primary public transportation hub. There are many restaurants, parks, and grocery stores."
  • Vanessa R.
"Convenience of the restaurants, bar, nightclubs, museums, scenic tours is amazing. Dry-cleaning, groceries and Petco park all within walking distance. "
  • Maxbanda102
"a lot is changing in the neighborhood. lots of new restaurants coming up and lots of buildings beingerecter. lots of new fun spots and bars and coffeeshops "
  • Melonie G.
"East Village has a lot of potential. I moved because of the homeless issue, high rent, and filthy dog mess everywhere including the indoor hallways of EV apartments. It’s pretty bad and overpriced for rent rates for what you get and have to put up with."
