An excellent public high school with staff and teachers who really care about the kids success and well-being. Academically challenging and rigorous. My child was well prepared for college.

Hi, I have gone to this school for over 2 years and this is my review. I have lived in Madison ever since I was born and loved it. As I got older, kids started getting ruder and ruder. In middle school (mjs) kids are out of control. I got bullied a lot for having curly hair, and not being white. The diversity is crazy bad. The school does not fund enough to school activities. The winter play was horrible and the spring musical was not great. The school was not horrible but that is because I made a couple of friends. Bullying is a huge problem, kids there start drama and bully everyone for no exact reason. I am now switching schools because I would like more diversity, less bullying, and a better school system.

TJS excels because of the strong staff. In general a majority of the teachers are warm, supportive and dedicated to their professional. My only complaint is the school keeps higher young teachers- it would be nice to see more senior, experienced teachers. my children have thrived at TJS in the 3 yrs we have been enrolled. My biggest complaint is the that the roll out of the new Singapore Math program was not as thoughtful and smooth as it could have been. My second grader, who was taught the "old math" since Kindergarten struggled significantly with this new, rigorous and very different math program. She was stressed all year which shocked me- she is the type of child who jumps out of bed and runs to school. There should have been more differiated learning. Instead the while class was pushed through even though she and others clearly weren't ready. Parents couldn't help because we didn't know how to teach the math at home. Singapore workshops are needed outside of school for both parents and students! ( and even some teachers who struggled to teach it!)
