The school is very competitive for honor students and is excellent in liberal arts, especially in English and History. However, the opportunies for advanced STEM studentds are very restricted. For example, STEM students can not take 2 AP Science classes until the Senior year, and school does not participate in US Science Olimpiads. The emphapsis on discipline is too rigorous in some areas - students are heavily penalized for being late even 1 minute to a class.

love it! best teachers, kind and warm approach

Some teachers are nice and effective, but others can obviously have their favorites and decide to lash out on the students that aren't their favorite. One example of this is my son, and he started getting yelled at for getting his pencil case. The principal is more worried about trying to make friends and keep them happy with their grades than telling them about how they actually performed. The special-ed teachers use different teaching methods, and they mostly just keep it normal until a student starts getting teary. Overall, my son does like some teachers, but there are others he doesn't like and I can understand why.

The teachers including the principal are nice but young with 2-5 years experience and frequent turn around. So they can’t really handle issues well. In stead, I feel that they set one set of “square frame” of how they want their students to be (it’s easier for you them). If your child is very obedient to that, he or she will do just fine. But if you have a uniquely gifted child, asking questions or being bored, please give another private school a try. We did it and our child became less angry and is thriving incredibly. The PTO call themselves that we were “private” schools and I believed it for a long time. But not knowing the true private schools was even scary. It’s funny now our child says “the teachers are not as passionate as the current school teachers”. Administration, seems to be nice, is superficial and very political to protect themselves.
