"Canandaigua is very dog friendly. There are even some restaurants that allow dogs. It’s a great place to be and I find that having dogs here opens the whole world up to you because people often are genuinely interested in your dogs and want to meet them. "
  • Ambrose
"There is something special about Canandaigua that I can’t put my finger on. It’s a really wonderful place to live. "
  • Ambrose

"It’s very dog friendly here. Some stores and some restaurants even allow dogs. Ask first obviously. Great community to have a dog. "
  • Cheryl Glitch
"Minimal public transport some areas walkable need car adequate store and restaurants not high traffic and easy commute"
  • Terri Kohlenberg
"We live in Bristol which is a very rural area not far from Canandaigua. But Canandaigua is a beautiful area with a lot of very nice restaurants, and breweries. The school system is excellent too!! The lake is absolutely beautiful!! "
  • Ortizboricua
"Very expensive place to live. Lake access is only for the ultra rich. The city leaders do not understand what adult recreation is and do not allow people to access the beach. There is no childcare for parents as well without having to pay thousands of dollars per month to send them to the YMCA. "
  • Trulia User
"very cute area, easy lake access, nice little restaurant. most houses old and small but more new ones coming in. good vacation or weekend place. seems very safe. quiet to considering the number of kids around "
  • Elizabeth S.
"I have to use a car because there isn’t adequate bus transit. My commute is usually only about 7 minutes, but I expect it to be longer with the snow."
  • Maslaniks
"It is quiet, safe, flat and the properties are well maintained. The neighborhood is safe and friendly."
  • Lindsey M.
"Canandaigua is a great town. It’s right near the lake and it has a nice downtown area. Gyms, bars, coffee shop, lake, restaurants, movie theater, bowling alley. It has a lot to do for a small town."
  • Maslaniks
"Lake activities, Sonnenberg Gardens events, monthly wine tasting, community Christmas activities, July 4th fireworks over the lake"
  • Laurie S.
"It’s bright, friendly & yet private for the most part. As in if you want to keep to your self, your neighbors will respect that or if you want to get to know them, they will welcome you."
  • Paleclear
"It’s a wonderful place to live and raise your children. Very caring neighbors who help each other. Great schools. "
  • Jirapha A.
"The fireworks on July 4th are wonderful. There are parades on veterans days, wine walks every first Saturday of the month in the summer, etc."
  • Johann_chan

"It’s a wonderful place to live, grow up, and raise your kids. It’s still the “old” Canandaigua! The rest of Canandaigua has exploded, the north shore isn’t welcoming, anymore. It used to be the place anyone could go to. Very happy and friendly ,very welcoming. Family friendly. "
  • Laurie S.
"Very nice and clean and well, worth it! The neighbors are very social. Low crime neighborhood. A mix of people. The school bus stops right in front of the house. "
  • Laurie S.
"Sidewalks & friendly neighborhood& at the same time people mind their neighbors privacy. Summer time is nice, however, on Saturday nights if the breeze is blowing in the right direction, you’ll think the dirt race track was either right outside your front or back door depending which side of the street you live on. "
  • Wright_abigail
"From living on the farthest side of Canandaigua you can drive one hour abs be in the city of Rochester"
  • Jellohenry
"Good town like to live here some parts are worse than others but all are safe. Good small stores to go too and you have a wal mart And Lowe’s "
  • Dedwardscomputers
"Building a dog park. City is strict on ordinances. Petco here and lake you can walk your dogs at. Lots of places to go and scenic."
  • Jason D.
"There are plenty of trails to walk dogs but there is a 50$ a month pet fee. My dog enjoys walking in this neighborhood"
