"I moved here in 2021 and have gotten to know the area and neighbors. It’s a great area to take a walk or bike ride - just avoid Oetkin Dr!! "
  • Trulia User
"The neighborhood has taken a toll with all of the homeless living in cars and campers and a halfway house on 62nd"
  • Trulia User
"Kids are fine to play in neighborhood as long as they stay close to home. Stay out of the streets and are respectfull."
  • Trulia User
"the commute downtown is always a good 20 minute drive. i don't know how long it takes on public transportation. "
  • Trulia User
"OK public transport. Depending on where you live could be a 15 minute walk to closest bus stop. Closer you are to public transport, the worse the crime. Commute by bike to downtown is about 40 minutes at a medium pace. "
  • Robyndove86
"Lots of friendly people walking their dogs and close-access to dog-friendly spaces. A drawback is that off-leash and loose dogs are common. If your dog isn’t dog friendly, you have too keep an eye out. "
  • Susan M.
"There is a friendly dog park in the neighborhood at Brentwood City Park. Lots of people walk their dogs around here. There is also a small park on Flavel that is a favorite with the locals "
  • Ayla B.
"Neighborhood has gone downhill in some areas, but overall not a bad place to call home if you keep your wits about you."
  • Jduffypdx
"The school system is getting better and I’m seeing more and more new you couples moving in and starting families. "
  • Natalie D.
"There are many great families in this area. Decent parks and talk of a very modern update to Errol Park."
  • Natalie D.
"I see people walking dogs often. It is a great family place too, but kids are usually playing in the back yards."
  • Es C. d.
"Brentwood Park has a Dog park. There are 4/5 parks in our neighborhood also. Our community has a lot of people walking their dogs. "
  • Donaldwood61
"An affordable section of portland, Great neighbors and low crime. Flavel st is kept up and pot holes are on the side streets."
  • Lindsey
"everyone is very helpful and giving. feels like a real community. i love this area and though i am open to moving if we cant find a place here, id prefer not to. out of everywhere in the area i have lived this is ny favorite. "
  • Carltogr
"The Great View!!! I know several of my neighbors next door and across the street. We look out for each other and don't mind helping each other out when we can. There are at least three parks that I know of, very walkable and easy to get around."
  • Christinezc
"I've lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years. It's quiet, has good access both to bus and to downtown, and has become more "gentrified" since we moved here, it's a little gem of an area."
  • Kathy L. R.
"there is a grocery store and a convenience store, a laundramat nearby, both within walking distance. there is a bus line running along flavel street. The problem is lack of lighting and some of the sgtreets in this area are not all paved. The houses in the general area look poor, not well maintained, cars in yards, trailers, and sometimes I see homeless people walking about. Some of the people in the area are very poor and there is more crime in this area. I think there are a lot of high school students, too and there is theft and car break ins. Keep the doors locked."
  • sk8mike2
"I guess they used to call this area felony flats but this is a quiet area that is safe. Very close to Woodstock. One of the last affordable close in portland neighborhoods!"
  • kyran95
"Walking distance to everything including max and trimet shopping, restaurants, cartlandia, Johnsson creek trails, schools parks and pet friendly. Friendly neighborhood it's an up and coming area with families who care about our community trying to make Portland cleaner safer and greener."
