"It is an old neighborhood with a lot of character. There is easy access to the water and a boat ramp. There is also s dog park and community garden."
  • Billyengland
"I looked at this house. To begin with it is NOT 1600 sq. feet, it is 1100 sq. feet with an attic that has a pull-down ladder that IS NOT done, but for some reason, the city is counting the attic as 500 sq. feet of "living space". It is NOT no where close to "living space" as it's not finished but rather a typical, dark, dank, dirty, old attic with boards as floors. The downstairs has nice wooden floors and the walls are in good condition despite a few holes here and there. The kitchen needs new cabinets and counters, maybe even a new floor. The outside yard is nice, but has been neglected. English ivy has taken over the yard, fence and garage...speaking of garage, it needs work as there are several roof beams that may need to be replaced due to weather damage and it kinda slumps on one side. The yard has 2 giant trees that provide excellent shade for the house, but also may be a concern as huge branches hang over the house. A good Nor'easter may take them down causing roof damage. The downstairs is very small (think walk-in closet small) and the floor needs to be replaced as it has huge gaps in-between the laminate. The bathrooms are in good condition, just a good cleaning and fresh coat of paint and they'll be ready to go. If you're a single person with a pet this would be a good house, but NOT at the asking price as it needs work."

"Colonial place is a perfectly quiet and safe place for families, pets and children to retreat. Historic, and sleepy, Colonial Place has been a safe haven for our family and our sweet neighbors for many years. Our long Sunday walks along the Elizabeth river with beautiful sunsets make this neighborhood one of Norfolk's finest. "
