An experience for my kids and for me as a parent that become memorable for all the wrong reasons. On the positive side this experience served as a teachable moment for my kids. The eldest was at disbelief asking over and over again: Why are you been treated like this? How aren’t you mad? Why don’t you say something or call someone? Mom! Why are you so calm, even though you are being polite, they continue to treat you like this. This isn’t right. In that moment, seeing how upsetting this experience was for them, gave me serenity and strength to remain calm. After exiting the premises, I sat with my kids and explained to them. How others treat you when they are in a position of authority or under any other circumstances when is required of them to act with professionalism, empathy and understanding says everything about them. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCons: This school is not for someone looking for any "easy out" of the traditional brick and mortar school. The coursework is very time consuming. Many typical daily assignments in the virtual school would be broken down and completed as multiple assignments over weeks at a traditional school. The virtual school also expects the student to have a firm handle on all basic computer programs; including Powerpoint presentations, Excel, Word processing, emailing, submitting audio files, digital files, etc. For someone just starting out, the time it takes to learn the programs and processes of submitting work via the internet has to be accounted for. This is my son's first year at the school and he has learned both subject material and computing skills. Pros: The system keeps parents aware of what is going on with the student and in a very timely manner. "Traffic can be tricky! Hwy 98 is the main thoroughfare between Pensacola and Destin. If there is an accident, it can back up traffic for hours. "
