The pros are that they have a lot of electives and learning pathways and great opportunities for the students. The biggest con is the principal, Julie Redfield. She allows her teachers to get away with discriminatory behaviors towards students even when their are documented witnesses and the teachers own written account. Parents are not considered partners, rather she is dismissive of any concerns raised. Students with differing beliefs, medical issues, and anxiety are not accommodated.l as she does not prioritize the needs of the individual student. When educators stop caring about kids, its time to retire. Carlsbad High could be great under the right leader and with getting rid of teachers that set the example with discrimination in the classroom.

If your child is going to attend AOMS, please consider having them take Orchestra. Signing up as a 6th grader was the single best decision that my daughter made during her middle school experience. To be honest, I was not always impressed with her other classes and teachers. Without Orchestra I might have been frustrated with her AOMS experience. I answered the previous questions in relation to Orchestra. Mrs. Hall is the best teacher at AOMS. She focuses on helping students learn how to learn, to benefit from mistakes, to set goals and attain them, and pours her heart into making sure that her kids have the best experience possible. She is a skilled and accomplished musician who still plays professionally and who is a product of our schools - her mother was the Carlsbad High drama teacher for over 30 years and still helps out at concerts. Mrs. Hall created a supportive and nurturing atmosphere which allowed students to take risks and to grow. Additionally, my daughter has been surrounded by kids who want to learn, who are fun, nonjudgmental, and she formed friendships that endured all 3 years. She did not have to navigate the ugliness that is often a part of middle school because her peers were solid. I didn't realize how important the elective she chose would be and I'm grateful that she ended up in Orchestra.

I’m not sure why we are still talking about these issues in 2023 but this schools is not only overrated but mistreated my kids were in fact bi racial with Latino and African American but absolutely not ok and wanted everyone to know what really goes on in this school.. first of all my daughter has GI issues with constant to the restroom and nurses office for her stomach issues, but my daughter came home one day, last year and said her teacher would not send my daughter to the nurse anymore because the “nurse was busy with other kids not for her .. no time for her, which tells you something.. I know also in previous years my oldest son was also mis- accused for an expulsion, while another child who was guilty got a slap on the wrist and let go because his dad was a cop… but I am a mother and will not stand or sit in silence especially after my kids are continually mistreated by these schools.. j letting u know..
