5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMany of the reviews for this school are outdated, so I wanted to share my own experience. This school had its good and bad sides. There were mild bug infestations, and many of the classrooms were old and unclean. The students often misbehaved, and the overall environment felt chaotic. As a member of the Class of 2024, I was deeply disappointed, especially with the outdated technology, which fell far behind that of other schools. Teachers seemed indifferent, often sitting back while students acted out. It was common for students to vape in the bathrooms and smear wet paper on mirrors and floors. The cafeteria started off decent but became dirty and poorly maintained. I also noticed instances of favoritism, particularly towards female students, which felt unfair to the boys. There were no extracurricular activities or programs offered during school, which made it feel lacking in opportunities. Despite these issues, I give the school three stars solely because of one outstanding teacher I had in both 7th and 8th grade, whose name I won’t mention.Other Review1y ago7 Reviews - Jhs 78 Roy H Mann

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is my son's 2nd year at Roy H. Mann. Unfortunately Covid-19 knocked out almost a year of in-person learning, one-on-one with teachers, social activities, etc.. My son coming from a grammar school with high academic skills, it was tough for us to actually accept and settle down based on so many negative prior reviews. However, we did, and I advised my son to stay focus and told him that he can be anything he wants to be wherever he goes. He is focused, but it's kind of funny how parents gravitate towards the so-called 'better schools and neighborhoods' not thinking that they can help to make a difference wherever they go.I have been on all the PTA Meetings and serve as a SLT member at other meetings of this school and I must say that there is poor representation of the parents at the PTA meetings, so my question is, why do people complain or find so many faults if they are not stepping up to try to make a difference? I find the Principal, the Vices, Deans, Teachers, Paras, the entire Bd. of Educators at this school to be approachable, friendly, helpful and they get back to you with any concerns or questions unlike the 'Prep' school my son came from.Listen people, you and I, we make the difference, so if you need to see improvements at this school, let it start with us and our kids - plain and simple! Be proactive in the school! Ask Questions! Meet out to teachers if you have concerns or call the office! Do something instead of saying something - that's negative!Parent Review4y ago22 Reviews - Jhs 278 Marine Park

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy 6th grade child got pizza thrown at her in the beginning of the school year in the lunch room. Then in December another child offered her to vape in the lunchroom. When my child said no and told someone. That kid attacked my child beating her up badly. The school has done nothing to help my child feel safe. The school Principal Ms Moser is an Awful school leader and should be removed immediately from further caring for these children's well being. I Do not think anyone who cares about their child should bring there kid here.Parent Review4mo ago19 Reviews - Midwood High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEverything about this school is below average by far. 95% of the teachers give either work thats too easy to the point we don't learn, or teach very poorly. The other 5% of teachers are decent but the work is still not up to par with other schools in course rigor. You may get good scores in class until you take an AP test where your grades don't matter. This school had potential but has completely ruined itself. Some of the teachers promote skipping classes (particularly gym teachers), which really isn't what you need. Some of the rooms have mold growing in the floors and (from my experience) has been there for at least 3 years. I thought this school would have been good but I was so wrong. The only part of the school that is decent is the vast number of clubs (which 80% of them fall on Thursday). If you live over 40 minutes away don't go to school as it starts at 7:15 once youre junior/senior.Student Review1y ago15 Reviews - School Of Science And Technology

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter was here for first and second grade she had Ms. Fontaine and Mrs. Aris. They were amazing teachers. Mr.M was extremely helpful the guidance counselor also the principal and assistant principal was very understanding and really helped. This is a really great school and care about the kids. Only problem we had it had no G&T program so this is why we left. Over all the school made you feel like family. My daughter loved it here, we miss it!Parent Review2y ago3 Reviews - Jhs 234 Arthur W Cunningham

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a student at the moment of I.S 234, I'd like to say there are numerous insufferable teachers that add on to deteriorating students' mental health. Along with those teachers, some teachers do not act when it comes to students that are in conflict when they are told so. Additionally, there are various students who are very violent and take the opportunity to hurt others almost every time when it comes to it. For example, when the students are switching classes there are students attacking each other, personally these experiences frighten me very much and this makes the school more unsafe for my experiences. I wouldn't recommend this school if you want overbearing stress and bullying.Student Review1mo ago30 Reviews - Ps 315

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love PS 315. My son is happy in 1st grade at the school. His teachers strive to make the class engaging and interactive. I'm amazed by how much he is learning this year. He has music, art, dance, gym and even has a weekly class with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. The school community is very welcoming and warm. The PTA is growing and there are many ways to get involved. An amazing, large new playground will be finished in May - with new equipment, a track, basketball and outdoor classroom. The school Administration is really responsive to the parents.Parent Review6y ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near 712 E 27th St #4D.

"This is a great neighborhood for families with children, it’s safe and has great parks, schools, and churches. I lived in Flatbush for most of my life, I am still in love with Flatbush, I am three generations there. My Mother who is 89 still lives in Flatbush and this is another reason why I want to move back there. Flatbush has many stores, and is close to many hospitals"
