As fifth graders my two children are both graduating from Normandy Park School this year and have attended the school since Kindergarten. Both have had an amazing experience through their schooling and have excelled beyond our expectations. Their teachers are all very experienced and really effective. They are not afraid to manage the children with the right balance of learning, discipline, creativity and innovation. I love the multiage program concept as it gave my children two years with the same teacher. As a result their teachers knew them very well, giving them an opportunity to more purely define their strengths and areas for growth. The NPS Principal is outstanding. His open door policy, transparency and genuine interest in his student body set the tone for an amazing environment in the school. The administrative staff and school nurse treat the children like they are their own and provide a nurturing, caring and fun atmosphere. The years have gone by so quickly and I am grateful for the near perfect experience NPS has given my children.

This is a great school. Don't listen to the 2/10 equity ranking or whatever. It's only like that because all the nearby schools are 100% white. If you look we are actually above average for New Jersey. We are always ranked number 1 in the county for math, science, etc. In fact, we often beat out the private schools nearby in these categories as well. The only subject we aren't the best at is Football.

The school has broken as a system of instruction during which pandemic, double talking about how we are all a team and then sending confusing mandatory instructions that they retract (after parental outrage?). Instruction currently consists of 4 hours per day of Google Meets involving checked out teachers who play videos and often are mot even there. A couple of teachers still teach, all the rest have kids locked to a computer screen in a kind of madness. Some teachers just don’t even show up for months at a time, just get someone else to start the video. We have begged for alternatives for our kids, only to be told that Google Meets are terrific (nope). Then we heard that the school board had approved all kinds of programs that apparently are not available to our kids even though we begged fir alternatives. Don’t consider this school any kind of learning.
