5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSwansea Elementary is moving in the right direction! As a teacher at Swansea, I feel honored to be among our dedicated and highly-qualified staff. You will be hard-pressed to find teachers, administrators, and support staff who are more dedicated and devoted to their children and families. Most Swansea teachers hold advanced degrees, some of which are masters degrees from the nationally recognized Denver Teacher Residency teacher certification program. Our staff also includes an occupational therapist, health support, full-time psychologist, SPED team, and GT teacher. This year, Swansea went green on the school performance framework. Our school has shown high student growth and we are only getting better! I love working with the students here. My kids are resilient, intelligent, creative, and hardworking. I love to see their smiles and the sparkle in their eyes while they learn. There is nowhere else I'd rather work!Teacher Review12y ago1 Reviews - McAuliffe International

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a student here and I have so much confidence about highschool, the average grade here is an A in high. My counselor and deans are amazing, we don't have AC in some classesrooms and I've heard a lot of complaining about that but most DPS school don't have that so chill out. I'm in 8th grade so I have some experience and it's really not as bad as these reviews are making it seem, good education!Student Review8mo ago17 Reviews - DSST: Conservatory Green Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has pros and cons. This is surprisingly a really diverse school (nothing is wrong with that) and has some very good clubs and activities. Aside from its pros like every school, it has its lists of cons. One thing the school can really improve on is their punishments, they use a system called an “RP” to punish bad kids (which makes you miss either lunch or recess) Which does not really give the students a harsh punishment because the same kids keep getting them over and over again. I suggest that instead of the “RP” system they make the students do something more affective like clean the school kitchen, or help clean the classrooms instead of recess. Another problem I would like to note is the dating, lots of kids in this school make out and have secret social media accounts which ship students with each other. The school also needs a better job of teaching the kids respect and discipline, I am constantly hearing about fights in this school and kids cussing in the hallways. I also am constantly encountering groups of disrespectful girls that laugh at me and talk about me behind my back. The school will probably not listen to this feedback but I will update this review if they consider it.Student Review2y ago8 Reviews - Northfield High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had a concerning experience involving how legal custody documentation and participation in my child’s IEP process were handled within the school district. In my situation, I provided legal custody documents, but there appeared to be inconsistency in how they were interpreted and applied. As a result, I was not included in certain parts of the IEP process. I filed a state complaint, and the outcome supported my concern that I should have been included. What was especially concerning to me was that similar communication and participation issues continued after my child transferred to another school within the district and worked with a different IEP team.Because of these experiences, I encourage other families—especially those navigating custody arrangements or special education services—to stay actively involved, keep detailed records, ask clarifying questions, and keep your options open to ensure procedures are followed consistently.I hope sharing this helps increase awareness and supports clearer, more consistent communication in similar situations.Parent Review1mo ago20 Reviews - DSST: Montview Middle School

"The commute is very short. It is about 20 minutes anywhere in the Denver metro area. Right by a light rail and a bus stop"

"This area is only 2 miles from the 16th St. mall and 1.5 miles from the big box stores in the Stapleton shopping area. This unique development is suburban living in the urban downtown. A bicycle is my preferred method of transportation in the summer. A nearby rail station will open in 2016 to provide transportation to the airport and Union Station."

"I moved to Northeast Park Hill in July 2012. So far, I've been very happy. This neighborhood used to be a very bad area. In the 1960s, there were race riots and a local shopping center was burned. In the 1980s, the bloods spread to Denver from LA and made this their home territory. However, in recent years, much has been done to improve the area. The derelict shopping mall at Dahlia Square was torn down and replaced with a senior center. There have been improvements to libraries and rec centers. Stapleton and the retail at Quebec Square made the area more desirable. Crime has fallen every year since 2005, although there is still some gang activity around. Public transportation is pretty good. The area is close to Downtown, City Park, the retail and biek trails at Stapleton. Although some of the neighborhood schools are bad, the area is full of top-quality charter schools, including Denver School of the Arts, Denver School of Science and Technology and Swigert-Macauliffe International School. Another very big deal is that houses in the neighborhood are still cheaper than comparable ones right across Martin Luther King Blvd and pretty cheap for Denver in general. The area is not perfect. Aside from the residual gang presence, the area suffers from small houses and some very dirty alleys. But overall, I give it a thumbs up."

"The location is perfect with stapleton shopping just 1.5 miles to the east and the 16th St. mall only 4 miles to the west. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and is completely removed from pass through traffic. "
