"So many places are very easily accessible! I can get to work without having to get on i35 but access to both Airport and i35 make traveling anywhere so easy!"
  • Trulia User
"Lots of cute dogs and nice owners. It’s a good place if you like dogs and Austin is also a good place to live if you like dogs. Lots of dog lovers here. "
  • Trulia User
"Hyde park is a quiet centrally located neighbor. Convenient to UT and downtown, but perfectly situated in a quiet historical district in the city! "
  • Trulia User
"very walkable. lots of other people with dogs! and parks too. avenue g no longer permits through traffic so it is am excellent pedestrian way. "
  • Aelessner
"Best trick or treating on Avenue G, H between 42 & 44. Central Market (best grocery) in walking distance. "
  • Yama L.
"Very dog friendly neighborhood. Just be careful walking on the grass, not all pet owners are as responsible:). "
  • Kelly H.
"hyde park is an idyllic austin neighborhood, so much character and charm, wish it was a bit more affordable but it's obvious as to why the prices are high, it's a great place to live. "
  • Mortercarol
"Close to restaurants that are locally owned. Good bus transportation. I feel safe here. But It hard to walk at night because few sidewalks. And they are often broken up. "
  • Mortercarol
"There is good bus service that goes downtown from Hyde Park. Traffic is bad here so even though Hyde Park is close to downtown, it might take 20 or more minutes to go 4 miles"
  • Yama L.
"Heart of austin. Easy commute to pretty much anywhere in Austin & surrounding area. Very good public transportation available in this neighborhood "
  • Travis G.
"Mostly young professionals and families. Good coffee and restaurants. Has an old neighborhood vibe. "
  • Juan C. L. B.
"Quiet, easy access to the transportation, many places to eat and too to buy domestic things "
  • Allagesyoga
"Great for dogs. There’s a drinking fountain for them down the street so you can stop and let them drink during your walk. "
  • Julie H.
"Everything you need is within walking distance, and the streets are wide with lots of trees. It’s quiet at night and bustles with "
  • Melissa D.
"I have lived here for over a year. It is nice. I have enjoyed talking to my neighbors. It is a very clean place. I like that. "
  • Dveloz0815
"Hyde park is 10 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes from domain. It’s my favorite part of Austin to live. "
  • Kanatran13
"quiet, close to downtown and university, lots of restaurants around, markets and heb close by, good community, people walk around with the dogs at night"
  • Tara U.
"There's not any place to take your dog, but there's plenty of room on side streets for walking them on a leash. Most everyone has yards with some space for their pets. Most the pets here are friendly so having a mean type of guard dog would be out of place, but it would be ok if it stayed in the yard. Just know that it will bark all the time because there's lots of foot traffic."
  • Blair V.
"Hyde Park has Central Park and other smaller neighborhood parks for dogs."
  • Shannon M.
"I don't have a dog, but I see people with their dogs all the time. The streets are good for walking."
  • Shannon M.
"The commute is not too bad at all. We are pretty central in Hyde Park, so it is easy to get around the city from here."
  • Tara U.
"This area is close to campus, so it has great public transportation system."
  • Tara U.
"Many people who live here are UT professors. The commute to UT could be a bike ride or a walk or a bus ride. Driving isn't worth it, since parking is such a hassle on campus. For those who work downtown, the commute is ridiculously easy. No need to even get on the highway."
  • Natalie B.
"Hyde Park is the heart of Austin, in my opinion. The streets are beautiful, lined with old trees and charming houses. The energy is great because it is a mix of UT students, young professionals, and families. It is in a central location with easily access to all of Austin."
  • Blair V.
"The homes have a historic look, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants around the neighborhood. There's also a neighborhood garage sale."
  • Tara U.
"This neighborhood is really unique because it's an old part of Austin with really funky small homes. Each house has character, which you don't find in areas with newer construction. There are lots of restaurants and shops here that give it a really cool laid-back vibe."
  • Shannon M.
"It's an old Austin neighborhood with a lot of Austin charm. I love that it is within walking distance to great Austin institutions like Quack's, Vino Vino, and Mothers. I love swimming at Shipe pool during the summer, and I also love the wine events at Vino VIno, like Bubble Fest. Mondo gallery has great exhibits and cool opening-night events."
  • Tara U.
"This neighborhood is family friendly however some streets have small or no sidewalks. But we do have tennis courts and a basketball court. Hyde Park feeds into decent schools, but most parents try to get their kids into magnet schools. Overall this neighborhood is very safe."
  • Natalie B.
"I always felt completely safe in this neighborhood and like I was a part of a community."
  • Shannon M.
"There's good swimming at Shipe pool and the neighborhood is walkable."
  • Tim V.
"Great homes with character, walkable, friendly neighbors. The best!"
