About this House

Come and live with us in our beautiful historic home, lovingly remodeled and set up with the latest in tech, a short walk from vibrant downtown Hallowell. You'd be sharing with up to four other full-time residents plus owners who drop in when they are working on another part of the house.

We love living with roommates and we wouldn't have it any other way. We own a home in California which we share with seven others, and we've previously shared in Boston, NYC and NJ too. We bought this home so we can put down roots in Hallowell and be close to our nearby friends whenever we can get to Maine. We set it up with lightning fast internet, super wifi, digital locks and all the power you can dream of.

__The neighborhood__
The Cute Cape is very close to downtown Hallowell - 5 short blocks walk to Water St shops/restaurants; easy access to highway and Augusta
Hallowell is a vibrant center for live music, good food and neighborly interactions with a small town vibe. Within walking distance are places for coffee, fresh juice and smoothies, a great variety of restaurants, renowned pubs and bars, a bakery, banks, a post office, and all around are many different live music offerings. At the bottom of the hill flows the beautiful Kennebec River, and just a few blocks away are the delightful Vaughan Woods for a healthy walk and the Rail Trail for a good run through the trees. Yet a quick jaunt away by car are all the big-box stores, services and government offices available around Augusta.

Thin, solid painted door. 157 sq ft. $700/month plus utilities (if for 6 months or more) or $900/month plus utilities (for a summer-only stay with lease end by August 31st 2025)

__Who we are, what we do__
So far the occupants of this Cute Cape are Mark and Grace, who bought it in 2017, Nadia, Jantsan, Abi and Kathleen. Mark is an artist who paints in oils. He also deals with fixing anything that breaks. Grace works in tech and deals with anything internet/electronic/smarthome in the house. Nadia is a student, and a volunteer firefighter, and a landscaper. Jantsan studies architecture and works hard at it. Abi is a scheduler for an energy company and Kathleen works at the Statehouse in winter and on whale watching expeditions in summer.
We are really excited to be in Hallowell even though we can't be there all the time. We like to stay reasonably tidy, especially in common areas, but we are not obsessive about it.

__Pets__
We don't have any pets. We would like to have a cat in the house: we have enjoyed the presence of up to two cats in a house at a time. It is quite likely we will have a roommate with a cat again so please don't apply if you are deathly allergic or this would make you unhappy. We do not want a dog in the house. Ask us about other creatures and we will think about it.

__Costs___
Utilities shared :- gas electricity, water and sewer.
Included: Internet, Garden/lawn. trash.
Lease term: 6 months minimum, then month-to-month. OR short lease summer 2025 only, be out by August 31st

__What's next?__
If you like what you see, write to us by email and tell us a bit about yourself. Happy room- and roommate-hunting!

Just be respectful of other people's space and clean up after yourself. We have a cleaner who comes once a month to do all the common spaces
